Actually, check a bit upwards and you can see I've already contributed to this thread in the fashion that would be required.
Nice try.
Your response to mine contained nothing of value or relevance to the discussion; irregardless of your previous contributions. Your prior response was not related to the one you made to me, so it isn't relevant.

Antagonizing people...um...weren't you the one who just dropped by to remark that the point of the thread is basically trollish, without even apparently fully comprehending the OP?
I provided the most truthful response I could. "Best Threads" are trollish by their nature.
They're essentially "Vs" threads, despite the pleas of the OP to keep it civil.
Further, I did not want to pick any one series, because it ignores the merits I see in other series I really like. Conflict arises as a result of this innate trolling.

I need not point any further than the GTA discussion as proof of this in action.

And I don't intend to take it anywhere to a moral level, or higher etical standards, or whatever. I merely wished to note that saying basically something that can easily be qualified as not sensible, but just trollish, then turning around and claim others might be trollish is a bit of a strange practice.
Yes, you imply hypocrisy that isn't there with a fallacy. Then you play the "moral highground" card, and now you slap it away.
*shrugs*
I'm done trying to reason with you.

Suikoden 1,2, and 3! JRPG at its finest!

Yep that's it, no more games after 3!
HAHA, I loved Suikoden 1,2, and 3. Suikoden 4 was the first of the series I played. I have to acknowledge 4 and 5 because they were good games as well, but you are right Suikoden 1, 2, and 3 are JRPGs at their finest. I love the Suikoden series.

Halo.

...Just kidding.
Yeah. Silent Hill all the way. The Team Silent one's not those shitty fan-made knockoffs (Homecoming and Origins).

I guess Shattered Memories can join the big boys club...

I'm going to say that the Metroid PRIME trilogy is the best available.

Now those who reconize me and have seen me post will note that I talk about Sly Cooper 2 all the time and call it my favorite game ever. However, I don't give the series the best because while 1 is fun what I've played, and 3 was still a great time, I didn't find them anywhere are strong as the 2nd. The first one's map system takes the exploration and stealthy runs away, and the extra characters in 3 make the game a little too cluttered. But Metroid Prime I feel is a series that all around is solid

Now, the biggest fault you could argue is the story. There is no dialog in the first game, limited in the 2nd, and then a bit more in the third, though mostly the voice actors only make grunts and groans, and you have limited number of cut scenes, though the number grows with the number on the end of the Metroid Prime logo. This, however, is not a bad story, in fact, it's one of the strongest stories out there, because it uses visuals so well. You learn the story of the first game by visuals and music alone, and the sounds make you feel like you're on Talon V. While the music is meh on it's own, each area has the perfect soundtrack, the Phendra (spelling) Drifts music still makes me chilly, and hearing the changes moves me from a cold, icy, lonely plane to the crashed ship just by subtle changes in my mind.

The game also has one of the strongest narratives ever, giving us an immersive experience, while also giving us a strong character. Samus in this game doesn't say a single word, yet is a voice of the perfect badass action character.

Metal Gear Solid. I've immensely enjoyed every game released. And yea MGS2 too. Close second I'd say Final Fantasy and Elder Scrolls. I can always count those games will give me my RPG fix.

Agree, MG/MGS ftw

Emphasis on "In my opinion". My favorite for now is the Persona Series of Shin Megami Tensei. It has some clear flaws in the design (Numerous cutscenes, and unforgiving enemies), so I'm not expecting everyone to like it, but it really excels in what it does well (Character development, immersion, unique RPG elements, voice acting, unique plot, and once again, unforgiving enemies). I felt truly attached to the characters by the end and believe that integrating the gameplay elements of a dating sim with an RPG was a brilliant idea for making me feel like one of the characters in an RPG.

Have to say The Elder Scrolls here (Morrowind, Oblivion and the upcoming Skyrim). There's just no experience like them for me, huge open worlds with so much freedom. I love the stories in them as well. The main quests are alright, but where the series really triumphs in the story/atmosphere department is usually the "side" quests. Though calling them side quests doesn't really make much sense considering they're what the world consists of. The different Gods, religions, House and Guild conflicts, it's all just awesome, I just couldn't find anything even remotely close to it in any game I've played to date.

Per the systems I have played...

PC - Elder Scrolls (with Morrowind leading the pack)

N64 - Banjo Kazooie series (because it ended with Tooie, as Nuts & Bolts is not on N64 and wouldn't be part of the series if it was, I don't care about developer intent)

Gamecube - Mario series

Xbox - Halo

Playstation 2 - Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series (still waiting on number three, Interplay. I don't care about the freaking Fallout MMORPG, focus on this!!!)

Xbox 360 - Fallout series

Jak & Daxter!
...No wait, they had Jak X and The Lost Frontier.

Ratchet & Clank!
...No wait, there were a few wrong turns in the run of all those PS2/PSP/PS3 games.

Shadow Hearts!
...No wait, From The New World.

Shin Megami Tensei!
...No wait, Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army, not to mention some of the really old titles.

TimeSplitters!
...No wait, the original definitely had it's flaws.

GTA!
...No wait, GTA III wasn't all THAT good and San Andreas was too big, too empty and had no graphical improvement.

Final Fantasy!
...Oh wow, I'm not even trying anymore.

Fuck, I say ICO. ICO's awesome and so is Shadow of the Colossus - and I've got high hopes for The Last Guardian. The series doesn't spawn as many installments as an EA-franchise, but dammit, at least they're all true masterpieces.
HAHAHAHHA XD ure awesome

Tales of Destiny (?)
Ninja Gaiden (old nintendo series)
Megaman (my hero when i was 10 years old)

Indeed and if there happens to be a collectors edition that costs as much as a car and contains absolutely nothing of any use at all you can bet I will still buy it.
