Just being curious, but id like to get a rough idea of the most 'loved' game type. Such as RTS, FPS, RPG.. ect.

Any reasons why?

Personally - FPS is my preferred style. Maybe because I'm purely a 'I like to shoot things with my boomstick' gamer.. who knows?

I prefer RPGs, because I like having my games with epic stories and leveling up my characters. That's right, I like leveling up characters. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

Preference :) - RPG games are my personal second favorite. So, no fight there :)

Good. :) I love quoting Family Guy, BTW, hence the last sentence.

Seconded.

But in all seriousness, FPSs. Why? Because I'm the type of guy who likes a a decent reason to kill things. And makes it fun.

Thirded.

I guess FPS for the reason stated above. But I do like RPGs as well. It's tough.

Strategy games are my favourite, be they turn based and real time, large scale or small.
It's just something about putting thought into what im doing and planning far ahead.

Well I think each game has it's appropriate time and place. When I'm angry theres nothing better than shooting something all to hell. When I want to escape reality a RPG always seems the way to go. So it really comes down to my mood or frame of mind. But I mainly play FPS...I guess that says a lot about my self...hehe

RTS

the meeting of the minds, the skill unrivaled, apart from the ability to click with speed and a decent graphics card, its relly a conduit, your will versus the opponent's

the crafting of a strategy, thinking on the fly, and... if you keep at it, you can be blessed with the greatest honor of all

The Pit Climb

weve all felt the feeling, your dead, the opponent knows it, the universe has decided, the stamp is on the folder

but your will is iron and your fury and inferno

you play for 2 hours straight of near perfect gameplay and win, upon which you let out a visceral roar and scare your brother in the next room...

be it an FPS, WoW (war-song gulch does this sometimes)

its... *sniff* beautiful

Level/map editor games, like Garry's mod for Half life 2.

They provide the most fun in general.

First person shooters are my favorite when played on the PC. I could largely care less for them on consoles. The speed, the control, the precision and the graphics really sell this genre. Of course, having my two favorite games of all time on the PC helps. You just can not beat everybody's emotionally oblivious mute, Gordon Freeman.

Third person shooters on the other hand are where it is at on consoles. This genre has never transitioned will to the mouse and keyboard very well. To make things worse, you simply cannot get a controller worth a darn. Some are better than others but nothing tops the Dualshock in my mind, not even the Gamecube controller.

RPG or RTS, even through I suck at RTS's. Too afraid to spend money/resources. FPS's and Fighers are fun, but only when other people are around to play with you.

I like driving games preferably where you can break things thats why i looooooooooooooooove the burnout series

i also like boarding games like SSX and tony hawks games. there really easy to pick up the controller and play, have good music and can be a good party game

(You shot a smallharmlesskitten is still the best message i have seen on CS)

I think I'm the same. This should be "Best genres" or "Best style of game" btw. I came in expecting a discusion about halo 2 game types.
