MMORPG: World of Warcraft - I don't even play MMOs and I wouldn't deny WoW. It's been around forever and managed to keep me entertained for a couple of weeks. That's more than can be said of many other games.

Arcade: Galaga - Still available in movie theaters and certain casual restaurants, this is another game that's also on many mobile devices and widely available. This is a casual game that many people have played and is very addicting with a very solid challenge.

Music: Dance Dance Revolution - It doesn't matter which one you choose. This game series is addictive and unlike other music games is still being made and released somewhat regularly. The styles and genres of music also shifted somewhat, with the latest incarnations using more contemporary western music. My favorite ones though feature fast J-Techno

Puzzle: Tetris - This is the first game many people play and is on just about every device with a screen. It's addictive, challenging, casual and still fun.

Action: Mega Man X - The difficulty curve is a little bit strange depending on the order in which you take on the levels but the progression system and, the way the game teaches you how to play it help in a big way. The game doesn't hold your hand and is a great challenge.

Fighter: (insufficient data - personal favorite = Mortal Kombat 2)

Adventure: Crimson Skies - Taking place in a wide, sprawling world, Crimson Skies was a later entry on the Xbox. You play as a pilot...shit, I don't remember the plot but 99% of the game is dog fighting and flying around beautiful landscapes. Nothing is quite as satisfying as shooting down a Zeppelin.

Best Story: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic - You play as a (insert character gender and, class here) who just escapes a Republic ship, crash landing on Tilos as The Sith Empire hunts you down. After gaining the assistance of a local gang and a few other colorful characters, you escape the world and discover your personal affinity with The Force. You train on Dantooine and learn more about your attacker Darth Malak who, apart from trying to kill you, is looking for a fabled super-weapon that could utterly crush The Galactic Republic and The Jedi Council. Add in the best twist in game history and you get a plot that most people would call the best plot of any game ever.
