360 for me. I used Playstation controllers long before, but the 360 controller just feels the best, plus I like the placement of the left d-pad.

Except for the D-pad being ass, I'm going to agree with the 360 controller.
The 360 controller is the best particularly as the D-[ad isn't ass. You usually only have to tap it so even if it was ass it wouldn't be a major problem
I dunno about that. For fighting games that D-Pad is a monstrous fail.

I'm gonna have to say the Playstation Controller on this one. 3 straight generations with very little change has got to count for something.

I don't care that it's the most inaccessible controller of all time. The fact that the controller costs 3 times as much as the only game you can play with it is just sheer awesome. You can't honestly say you don't feel like a badass playing with it.

To be honest, I kind of wish developers did this kind of stuff more often. Who needs to adapt to the standard controllers?

I loved the N64 controller because you could pretty much count the number of buttons on two hands and still have both a D-Pad and an Analog Stick. Of course many, no, ALL controllers do that nowadays, but this was one if THE first to do so. It was also one of the first to feature a trigger button, something that I loved.
My only complaint with them is that I wore down the analog stick really fast on my controllers. Also, I wished that more than 0.000000000000000000000000000001% of all N64 games actually required both a D-Pad and an Analog Stick, since I only ever played one game that ever used it.

Overall though, it was a revolutionary controller for a revolutionary controller.
Good night!

There will never be a tighter 3d platforming experience than with the Gamecube controller. That's the only area the 360 blows at.

Edit: and fighting games, screw that worthless D-pad.

Never understood why people dislike the N64 controller- it's not like any good games needed you to hold all three prongs. Your average one had you holding on to the middle and right sides, which feels entirely natural after a few hours.
So I pick that one. Playing pokemon snap with the classic feels so weird...
That chart was pretty cool, though. I liked how virtually everything evolved from NES.

Mouse and keyboard, guys.

Mouse and keyboard.

But if this just about console controllers then I have to give it to either the Gamecube or Xbox 360.

Gamecube for the layout, 360 for the feel in my hand.

the gamecube controller just... works!

It's funny going playing lots of COD on the 360 to some Wind Waker using a gamecube controller on the wii.

You use the C-stick as if it was the right analog stick... frustrating.

I like the PS3's DualShock 3 controller. It feels pretty natural, and it's got a decent weight to it (it's a bit heavier than normal Sixaxis controllers, and I think it's lighter than 360 controllers. Or I could just be imagining it.) The Xbox 360 controllers come in a close second, it would be a tie, but the Xbox controller just feels...chunky.
