If the price does not matter than I really suggest the Astro A30s as they are a very well made headset with great reviews that has all the bells and whistles like a removable portable amp and the ability to inject music from your MP3 player directly into the headset while playing a game. They are very expensive however.
I personally did not have the money to go with the Astro A30/A40 so I went with the Tritton 720 from Best Buy- Tritton's flag ship headset are the Tritton Pros which does true dolby 5.1 vs Tritton 720's simulated dolby 5.1. They should run you $130/720 & $180/Pro.
I mainly use the headset for gaming on the Xbox 360 at night.
