I doubt it actually counts, but you could take down an entire army with Battlefield: Bad Company's electric drill. It kind of looks like a pistol and if you're really lucky you can kill someone with it by drilling into them for a few seconds, but preforming the same action, one can destroy tanks and helicopters and completely disintegrate walls and roofs on buildings. I've even destroyed small sections of forests by drilling through trees!

"Compact" from Counter Strike. Actually a Sig Sauer P228, it has quick follow up shots and in rapid fire is a fantastic headshot pistol.

second i would rank the "Magnum" from Black, which is a Smith and Wesson Model 629, the Stainless Steel version of the Model 29. Specifically the pistol is modified resembling the Stealh Hunter version of the Model 629. On a strange note, the speed loader animation used in the game, is confused with a moonclip, which is kept on the rounds, instead of being detached after loading.

The Ambassador from Team Fortress 2, the Halo 2 plasma pistol, the .357 revolver from Half Life 2...

There's an awful lot of great handguns in games. I can't even think of a game that doesn't have a truly great handgun in it.

The M9 from CoD4, I had a kit setup just to use it. Bandolier, Slight of Hand, Steady Aim. So over powered. Shame it was just average in every installment since.

Also the M-5 Phalanx pistol from the ME2 Firepower DLC, just because the blue laser sight is awesome...so is blowing the heads off mercs from miles away :)

I'm going with the pistol from Halo: Combat evolved.

I read the title, but that gun is so stupidly powerful it wins any video-game handgun contest. ANY.

Second prize goes to the Schofield Revolver from Red Dead. Such a classy way to kill someone, I refused to stop using it even when I got given a semi-automatic pistol.

Assassin's Creed 2's hidden gun.

ok, by modern standards not that great... But a 1 shot kill weapon that no-one else has access to, that is "no larger than a humming bird", and you can shoot while it's still up you sleeve.

Seriously, just try and tell me it's not Bad-ass.

I'm gonna go ahead and make the case for the Boltok pistol from Gears 2. It was basically a mini sniper rifle that looked absolutely awesome

Any handgun in Rainbow 6 Vegas 2; infinite ammunition and usually instant kill if headshot; considering most can have a magazine of 15+ rounds, there is no reason why not to use it; even the Desert Eagle and Raging Bull are awesome, mainly because they are so powerful they can easily get collateral kills, even if they are a bit slow. I am not surprised that some higher level elites only use pistols. I even found the piddly-power Glock 18 to be useful in some situations, especially if you don't otherwise have an SMG.

MP443 Grach in BFBC2; dang that thing is fast and accurate and killy.

All of the revolvers in the base game in Fallout: New Vegas; all are at least decent power and accuracy and I like the sounds they make. Even late game I still find myself using the .357 once in a while (specifically the unique one).

Alpine, the unique SIG Sauer P220 and March, the unique USP Compact in Stalker: Call of Pripyat; both of them were just brilliant; they had a really good balance of power, accuracy, magazine capacity and could be silenced. Oh and plus when fully upgraded they could be fired in full-auto.

The M1911 in CoD 4 was awesome; shame it wasn't in MW2, but then again I disliked that game so probably for the better; the BlOps version isn't for me either; I don't like the finish and the iron sights don't work for me, even when upgraded. In CoD 4, it sounded awesome, it looked awesome and it handled awesome, so I found myself using it a lot, despite the inferior magazine capacity.

The CZ75 in BlOps was brilliant; I particularly liked it with upgraded iron sights, but extended magazines and dual wield were pretty good too; wasn't so keen on the full-auto because it just seemed unnecessary as I could fire it that fast anyway, but more accurately. Its bigger magazine capacity than the other pistols was useful, although that said, the ASP actually was quite good, especially because of the sights and the fact that reload is as near to instantaneous as I've ever seen without an infinite ammo cheat.

As you can see, I'm actually pretty big on handguns in games.

Either the .357 Magnum from Half-Life 2, or the Mysterious Magnum from Fallout: New Vegas (it plays a guitar riff when you draw it!).

The M1911 pistol in Black Ops Zombies7.Im not talking about the lousy peashooter original version but the pack a punched one with dual noobtubes and super fast reload. Coupled with phd flopper it is basically a god gun that that shall bring down death on all of those zombie bitches. A special mention goes out to the Euclid's C Finder in Fallout NV it would of been my favourite but its too powerful to be an actual pistol

The Ambassador: sleek, elegant, and perfect for getting rid of those pitiful Snipers who think that a Razorback will save them. enemies will shrink before your majesty, as they see an image of their own mother engraved on the barrel of this wood-paneled masterpiece...

so yeah, I kinda like the Ambassador from TF2

I just got the hunting revolver from Orvitz or something the scheming bodyguard in New Vegas Freeside. Also nice is Maria, the gun you get off dead Benny. Now this category can count towards aesthetic or performance. Outside of video games, hands down the coolest handgun is Dekkard's from Bladerunner.

Pre-Patch 1911 in Bad Company 2.

It was 100 percent accurate and killed in 2 shots at any distance, with no fire rate cap.
I still love it.

The revolver from brink. That thing can put a hole in anything.

Which reminds me, the "cursed" pistol from brothers in arms hells highway, which could supposedly "put a hole in superman".

And fable 2's steel flintlock. For piratey goodness.
