I don't really like a lot of these choices because the characters being chosen are only "female" superficially. Characters like Samus or Chell could have been male and pretty much nothing would change. So they aren't really good female characters so much as they are good characters. It makes it seem like the best way to make a female character is to completely obscure and trivialize the fact that they're actually female.

I like what you say Hurray Forums, and your points are sound.
Give us your choice then of the character you feel does fit properly the role, and also the characteristics you think must be present to make a good female protagonist. We are fond of elucidation and multi-directional illumination. ;-)

Definetely April Ryan, Zoe, Jade, and Heather. Faith is a *****, but the game is not bad itself.

Alyx Vance from the Half-life series for sure, followed by Princess Farah from Princess of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Not bad choices at all, werent it for the fact that they arent leading characters.

Truth be told, she is the only one that hasn't been exploited by a game designer.

You mean the Samus Aran who could play through her entire first game in a swimsuit if you completed it fast enough?

Anyway, Cate Archer is better than all of them.
