Silent Hill 2. I played it sat huddled on a sofa with three other people, lights off, blinds down and surrond sound blaring. That is almost pants wettingly scary!

There's no hill like Silent Hill.
And there's no Silent Hill like Silent Hill 2.

It's spelled "hrair".

So I guess that means it'd have to have a five or greater in the title. My favorite is RE4, which is less than hrair.. so shucks, I dunno.

Fatal Frame. That game made me jump more than practically any other horror game I've played.

Am I the only one who clicked on this

1) Expecting some smug person to say something about the searchbar
2) Intent on correcting that absolutely awful attempt to spell horror. You know, the word spelled H-O-R-R-O-R. No "e".
3) Who has now kind of made an ass of himself by being smug in fixing a spelling error.

On topic, I would probably go along with the consensus and give Silent Hill 2 my vote. Though I must admit Doom 3 made me jump back in the day, though no one else I ever talk to seems to think it was all that great.

Eternal Darkness, it's the only game that I know of that messed with YOU the player. Not the JUST character, but you. And it was not nice to you. Don't believe me? have a Wii or a Gamecube? Buy it for 4 bucks, sit down with the lights off and the volume up. It may look dated by todays standards (I haven't played it since it came out and don't recall how visually impressive it was) but it was scary if you got immersed enough.

Medievil II scared me when it first came out. I was about 6 back then, and zombies scared me.

How a character that looks so simple can be so f*cking terrifying is beyond me.

fatal frame, or project zero as its known in the uk. played 1 and 2 and 1 was better. the introduction of a second ai character in 2 kinda spoiled it for me. still shit scary though. was never really a fan of horror. also, despite what other people might say, FEAR isnt scary at all. it startles the player rather than scaring them; therefore losing it's effect after the first play through (PS the scariest level in fear is the last, one where you fight alma)
