C&C red alert 3, oblivion, Fallout 3, and Saints Row 2
and back in the day i thought Spyro the Dragon (the first one) had some catchy music. course i was like... 8 or 6... somewhere around there
I'm still going to go with Mario Galaxy, simply because some of the orchestrated songs (Good Egg, Gusty Garden Galaxy) are simply amazing and it's fantastic fun to be soaring between planets with a full orchestal score blazing in the background behind you.
not really widely based in alot of games but, i have to go with (relative to its platofrm of course) HoldenEye, the music just brought up alot of ambience that made multiplayer creepy and heart-pounding.
But overall I'd go with Spore. I don't know when you come to a clearing with one of your simple creatures and you see a beautiful sunrise come through the brush and the music hits the right note, ahhh.. i want to go play just to see/hear it again...
All of the music in the first Unreal.
All of the music in Morrowind.
All of Max Payne 1+2, though that was more for the cutscenes.
A fourth of the stuff in Oblivion.
The "swimming" tune from Daggerfall.
The street tune from Donald Duck's Playground.
...and of course, the entire Turrican II soundtrack.
Though I haven't played it, I like Alone in the Dark's (the new one) soundtrack. MGS series also has some good songs. My favorite original songs from a game are Still Alive by Johnathan Coulton (Portal) and Still Alive by Lisa Miskovsky (Mirror's Edge).
