movable printed type, without it books ans the like would be so expensive almost all of us would be illiterate, school systems would be virtually non existent and most of the inventions since would not have been made because most of them were built on previous knowledge, which would not have been available to the inventor

I dsagree, I believe that guns are the best and greatest thing.
I mean they have solved more conflicts next to nuclear wars.
If you give tazers to cops, we will have hundreds of people having cardio arrests, where as is a cop pulls out a gun, they have lost their job unless they can prove otherwise, so it discourages the use of them, and when they do use them, the threat of the overwhelming violence is usually enough to stop people.

Before the invention of gunpowder, millions of peasents would be slayed in the front line, leaving all the big bad rich guys up the top. So all you "Equal Rights" people should love guns as they mean in war everyone can die. How fair. Guns have made the world Equal. Until the nukes. Now 5 countrys are equal and the rest are sucking their balls.

How are guns a good invention?
Please don't do this. For the love of god don't get in a debate about why guns should or shouldn't be abolished.
I think you are waaaay too late for that
I know its a shame isn't it? might as jump on the bandwagon. there should be a test that proves you are mentally stable and so on. this is taken on a monthly basis. if you fail the test then you cant buy guns or ammo or accessories.

How are games, which allow you to virtually kill people,a good invention?

For that matter, should cops not have guns to defend the people, or themselves?

And, more importantly, why should I not be allowed the means to defend myself from the government?
Games are a form of escapism and a lot have no killing of people but are still good games e.g. Braid or Portal

I live in Ireland where police are not allowed guns because a lot of police would abuse the power and a lot of police in the US are corrupt

I'm not even going to dignify that last one with a response
Only very rarely do the corrupt cops ever shoot people.

Usually they just beat them.

Also, why are you so afraid of the last one? Historically, governments almost always turn against at least some portion of their population. To say you wouldn't or shouldn't defend yourself from them is foolish and cowardly.

The coolest would have to be the first computer.
The most significant would be a machine I saw in a science magazine that produces water on a large scale by extracting it from humidity, IE moisture in the air.

Edit: Guns are not nor will ever be a good thing
I say guns. Guns made it so it did not matter your race, your creed, your religion, your life style. Guns evened up the battlefield (In a sense) No longer was it who had the most men, with the most strength, it became simply, who could aim better and keep his head out of the way. Not to mention the gun revolutionized hunting, making even the most frailest of starving ethiopians a contender in the game of survival by making hunting no longer about strength (A decent bow runs 100+ Lbs of draw strength) but simply about patience.

Remember kids, Hitler and Stahlin, to secure their rise of power and to prevent overthrow of their dictatorship, exercised STRICT gun control. Only soldiers and government could carry guns. Learn history you twits before you start slandering guns by claiming we are safer without them. Remember, if a criminal wants to kill you, he is going to, wether with a gun, a missle, a knife, a bow, a sword, a dagger, a mace, poison, rocks, sticks, logs, attack animals, etc. The police can only clean up after, or attempt to stop a crime IN PROGRESS, they very rarely ever actually prevent a murder from happening unless it's a hostage scenario or spousal abuse (and even then...)

Finally, someone who agrees. And understands a bit of logic.

The wheel.

It set everything in motion...
That was a bad joke
It was wheely awful, wasn't it?

On Topic: Well, time was quite a good invention, I'd say. Or rather, the concept of time and the measuring thereof.
I am really tired of these wheel jokes.

I'd hate to tread on your pungent little pun making parade here, but wheely now, can you stop with this awful rotation of joke, after joke. I would really like to steer us back on topic, if that's okay?............ Firestone
