I also love the fact that he breaks the cardinal rule of comics by acknowledging the fact that he is in one. First character ever to break the fourth wall as its called.
Not even close. The ancient Greek play The Birds did that earlier. Kurt Vonnagut did that earlier in Slaughter House Five and Break Fast of Champions, Paul Auster did in City of Glass Mark and Mark Twain did it in Huckleberry Finn. Animal Man, She Hulk, Cerebus, and Howard the Duck did that earlier in comics. There are a tone of other comic characters that started breaking the fourth wall afterwords. Animal man is probably the best example.

Example from Animal Man.

I agree. He needs a movie.
Third'd.
Uh there was. You REALLY don't want to see it though.

We're talking about a movie, not an atrocity against mankind. I think you may have mixed those up.

Dazzler and Squirrel Girl.

Dazzler's an old favorite from the Disco era of the early 80's, a mutant you need to fight in a soundproof room to have any chance against.

And Squirrel Girl...

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SquirrelGirl

She's known as "The Anti-Life" and "The Destroyer of All that Breathes". Yeah. She's a Ditko co-creation too, so that really piles on the force multipliers there.

As a last minute entry... Gambit. Remy's a personal favorite among the X-Men, since I had a thing for Staffs ever since TMNT and Donatello. Don't forget the Playing Cards charged with bio-kinetic energy. The fact that he has a natural 25 Charisma helps too.

I've always been rather fond of Doctor Strange. Not sure why, might be the cool beard and hair.
Oh and Gambit, of course. He's just badass, and has a wicked smile.

SpiderMan is a given but I always liked Deaths Head.
He was created for the short lived comic Dragons Claw (Teeth in the US, I believe) and made a crossover to the Transformers comics around the fallout of the Target 2006 story line.

I'd put the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy as number 3, but I like Star-Lord the most out of the team.
1.Defiently seconding Nova.
2.Captin America
3.And Nick fury (long before he was going to be played by samuel l.jackson although that has defiently helped with his awesomeness)

Having just read the forum on favourite X-Men, I wondered who is everyone's favourite Marvel character?

I have 3

1.) Silver Surfer - Please ignore the film!
2.) Wolverine - His constant bad mood makes him a bad ass!
3.) Spiderman - With great power, yadda yadda yadda!

I must admit, mine are mainstream characters, does anyone have an obscure one, or do you all love the main characters?
I have to agree with Spiderman and Wolverine. They're both completely awesome, and I envy their powers. Gambit's awesome too, of course. But my all time favourite has to be Shadow Cat (aka Kitty Pryde). She's basically my favourite X-Man (or rather, X-Woman), and her power is also my favourite (who wouldn't want to phase through solid matter?).

Gambit, Nightcrawler, Iron Man and just for a villian you have to pick Doctor Doom. But not the crappy one from the recent movies. Has to be old badass Doctor Doom.
