Guild Wars. Stunning graphics but smooth framerate even on a netbook. Instanced areas without others help as well. Having a squad is great too.

Umm... I guess Fallen Earth since it is the only one I've played, but I didn't like it much. Thought it was going to be like Fallout 3, but no. Controls sucked, guns were horrible to use, and it was just boring. Glad I had like 20 free trial keys instead of buying it.

I've played many but I think one of my favorites was DDO although I didn't like that everything but the towns were instances also I did enjoy WoW but definetly not worth 15$ a month plus I don't have a credit card to play or buy games online anymore, but still 15$!? that is excessive the most I'd pay would be 5$ with 15$ a month I can practically buy a game every 2 months.

World of Warcraft is so damn popular for a reason, I had fun when I played, atleast when it wasn't all grinding.

I know this isnt an MMORPG, but Planetside hands down had the best community and best gameplay concept, its just too bad SOE didn't care for it, maybe it could have lasted more than 6 1/2 years. Its still up now, but pops are so low it might as well not exsist.

If you want free and such, why not try Ultima Online ? I highly recommend the Second Age Shard that is out there, as back then, the game was actually fun to play. If you never played it before, this was the biggest anti carebear game ever made until they were forced to nerf it.

For paying MMO's i loved lords of the rings online, and WoW in that order

For free-to-play MMO's Dungeons and dragons online is very good, and runes of magic is pretty damn decent!

I played WoW for just over 4 years and loved it, so that's easily my favorite.

EVE Online. It's vastly different from any other MMOG I've tried. If you're used to games like WoW you'll find the learning curve [http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/gaming/18970d1247995749-eve-online-learningcurve.jpg] punishingly difficult and it does have its flaws, but ultimately if you manage to persevere it's one of the most rewarding games I've ever played.

As one player on the official forums so eloquently put it:

"EvE is flawed, poorly documented, full of bugs, very tough on new players, brutally cruel to the careless, foolish, hasty or greedy player, insanely complex and highly dependent on fiding people you get along with to play alongside.

It is easily the best game I have ever played."

MapleStory ftw...
it evolved a lot in its 5 years.
much to do no lag most of the time and it doesn't demand nothing from your pc.
2d sprite graphics give it its own unique style and has a lot to do in it.
grinding is non existent if you know what many options you have .

I've played since a few months after launch.
WoW was never not grindy.
No MMO has every been grind free.
Grindy is what MMO's are. It's what keeps people there. Some do a better job of rewarding you for the grind, but the grind is still there.
I meant the parts like instances and such where you aren't grinding, not that there was ever a time where it wasn't a grindtastic game.

I loved LOTRO... If I had more time and money, I'd be playing it now. But I have enough other games to keep me preoccupied for a long time, so I don't see myself going back soon. It was one of the most fun times I've had though. I actually tried RPing, which I didn't think I would, and was having so much fun that I forgot all about levelling and exploring.

My favorite MMO was World of Warcraft, Pre-Burning Crusade. Not only did the expansion sound like an STD it ruined the game with its silly arenas and 10 man raids.

World of Warcraft...

Not much competition for the time being.... The Old Republic looks promising however...

Aww...
Cmon folks, I have yet to see a reference to runescape here.
Jeez guys how can you forget?
:p
Actually, to be honest, Runescape has really neato quest lines, in my opinion, and actually has some good features.
Discuss.
