For me, there are a few. First 1984.
I had not finished the book when I watched the movie, so when
he finds out there is no war
I was just blown away... I honestly did not see that coming at all. Very much like my next item.
The scene in Fight Club, where Jack learns the truth. I already knew it was coming (I DID finish that book) but that didn't diminish the effect it had. What I find great about these movies is that they can deliver a twist like that, have it make sense, but not draw it all out. Shamalyhowdoyouslpellthatan should watch these films and learn something.
And finally, The Dark Night. The part where Joker had just gotten out of jail and was riding in the car... gets me everytime.

When Hans Gruber falls to his death in Die Hard. Absolutely legendary.

Slim Pickins riding the bomb in Dr. Strangelove.

Why does not having finished the book matter?
there was a war.

Actually, the best scene in Iron Man is a toss up between "I am Iron Man" and Nick Fury

The scene in El Mariachi when Domino holds a knife to the Mariachi's crotch while he's taking a bath- making him sing to prove he's a real Mariachi, and he makes up a song on the spot about what she's doing to him.

I laugh each time I see that.

I got two.

watching "Meet Joe Black" thinking it would be a really really stupid romance movie garbage... then seeing brad pit get CREAMED by two trucks, going opposite directions.

Awesome.

One of my other favorite movie moments is the entire movie "12 monkeys"

The scene in Lethal Weapon where Mel Gibson controls the take down of a suicidal man.

Also "Have A Nice Day." (Even though the shots don't line up in that scene, the concept was cool.)

If I am not mistaken, that whole statement was an improve by Bruce Willis. Maybe I'm wrong. It was still cool.

That's a tough one as I've seen a lot of great movies. I'd say the scene in Return of the Jedi when Luke is fighting Darth Vader while the Rebels are destroying the Death Star. I was totally blown away by that scene when I saw it in theaters for the first time. It's still a great scene even though I've seen the movie way too many times since.

Some runners up might be:
Indiana Jones getting chased by the boulder in Raiders of the Lost Ark
The chase scene in Back to the Future Part II where McFly is on the flying skateboard (so cool)
The scene in Dirty Harry where Clint Eastwood says "Now, did I fire six shots, or was it only five....do you feel lucky punk? Well do ya?" Probably the most quoted scene of all time.
The scene in Braveheart where he says "Every man dies...not every man really lives" one of the greatest all time movie lines.

Almost any scene in Princess Mononoke is great for me. But at the end when you slowly see the dead land become covered in flora really does it for me.
Also the scene in My Neighbor Totoro when they're waiting for the bus in the rain. Pure genius.

I would say though, that my all time favorite movie moments are just Russel Crowe kicking ass in Gladiator. That movie is biggidy-badass.

My all-time favorite movie scene is the climactic scene in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure where they actually give the report. Truly a Crowning Moment of Awesome.

The end of Smoking Aces. One of my favourite scenes in any films. I just find it to be so fucking awesome.

It's not said in a dramatic way in the first one. Ah, here we go, imdb doesn't let you down!

Hans Gruber: Mr. Mystery Guest? Are you still there?
John McClane: Yeah, I'm still here. Unless you wanna open the front door for me.
Hans Gruber: Uh, no, I'm afraid not. But, you have me at a loss. You know my name but who are you? Just another American who saw too many movies as a child? Another orphan of a bankrupt culture who thinks he's John Wayne? Rambo? Marshal Dillon?
John McClane: Was always kinda partial to Roy Rogers actually. I really like those sequined shirts.
Hans Gruber: Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?
John McClane: Yippee-ki-yay, ************.

---

I love it in the second one, after he gets punted off the plane.
