so whether you know it or not, i recently made a thread about the worst movie ending that people had ever seen (if you want to comment on that http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.183628-Whats-the-worst-ending-to-a-movie-you-have-seen?page=1 )

but im not here to prostitute my thread, im here to start a new thread, because i noticed on my thread of worst movie endings, people were talking about the best movie endings, and i think that those deserve a new thread because no one likes when the best are grouped with the worst,

so whats the best movie ending

my favorite endings would have to be

oldboy, except someone ruined it and told it to me right before i watched it

the usual suspects, such a twist it will leave you discombobulated for a long time, at least 30 seconds- 24 hours

so escapist, what is the best movie ending

It's just something about the feeling as the buildings go tumbling down while the music plays that feels... perfect in an incredibly obscure way, but still perfect

Honorable mention goes to the end of Cowboy Bebop, which sadly gets disqualified for not being a movie.

See you, Space Cowboy... *sob*

Forrest Gump pops to mind. I won't spoil it, but it did have a sort of bittersweet ending.

And if you haven't watched the movie, watch it.

unfortunately there might be a new series because the author said "Spike only did what the person thought, he might of died or just past out... who knows?"

Nah, the creator said he wouldn't make another series.

What they will do however is make a live-action film of it.

I didn't really like that one for one simple reason, and that's because
verbal Kint just pulls the story straight out of his ass.
My favorite ending would be the one from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, only because that's the movie that introduced me to a proper cliffhanger. Hadn't really seen a lot of those before.
well

thats the thing about the movie, is that we dont know what he made up or didn't he could have pulled it out of his ass or he could just switched around the names, and changed the ending, the only certainty is that we dont know what really happened except a whole bunch of people died, we know some of it had to be truth because he cites some actual crimes that happened such as the killing of the jewel dealer or the robbery of new yorks finest taxi service, but we dont really know his whole involvement, and was able to give accurate descriptions of the crimes that matched to the cops story, aside from that though we dont know and thats what i like

Damn straight you should see Cowboy Bebop. One of the best anime series ever. Plus it's only 24 episodes, so it won't take much time.

I'm pretty sure that was the point :V

The Usual Suspects and Fight Club are good. I'm also rather partial to Dr. Strangelove.

There are plenty of other movies with good endings, but I can't think of any right now.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail!

(i keed, i keed)

For one of my favorite 'what the hell was that?' in a good way, I'd recommend Quiet Earth. Just love that ending.

Oh, and for best ways to end a movie with a beautifully delivered line, I would have to recommend Silence of the Lambs. "I'm having an old friend for dinner." Classic!

damn it not keanu reeves, i hate that actor, and i will probably be flamed for this, but the thing is matrix was a great movie and speed was an okay concept, but both would have been better off with another actor and without sandra bullock in speed, another terrible actor in my personal opinion

Basic with Samuel Jackson and John Travolta.

The movie itself is a masterpiece of pathetic script writing, but Basic is so bad that it is awesome. The ending is the best part of the movie, I just laugh every time I think about it. I don't want to ruin the ending but I highly recommend picking it up at a bargain bin somewhere, or renting it.

Say what you like about Keanu Reeves, but I for one thought that the end of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (the first one) was a fun, light-hearted camp of silliness that I still like watching even though it's sooooo dated now.

1) Where Eagles Dare, if you have been paying attention to the entire movie.

2) Reservoir Dogs
