I'm gonna have to jump on board with a lot of other people here and say that Spider Man 2 was probably the best game adaptation of a movie, but my favorite at the moment (though far from the best) is Tron Evolution. It could just be a guilty pleasure, but I'm also a giant Tron fan and was able to look past the lackluster gameplay.

I dunno what gives you the idea they're clustered on the PS2- I've never found that to be the case.

Golden eye 007 , best game based on movie ever. Sure it may have aged poorly but it's the best in that perticular category .
This, except for the aged poorly thing. It's every bit as fun to play now as it was in 1997, and that's not nostalgia, it's solid game design.

Outside that, I hear The Warriors and Butcher Bay are also excellent, as is King Kong and Toy Story 3.

Nightfire (if it counts), Spiderman 2, Goldeneye, Toy Story 2 and King Kong were all pretty solid

Aye that be true.

And Spider-Man 2, best free roamer on the PS2 that wasn't Grand Theft Auto, seriously, I was never a big fan of Spider Man but that game was way ahead of its time.

I would go so far as to say it's one of the last gen's best survival horror games.

And I heard the Wanted game was pretty decent but that it was way too short. Like 3 hours long.
It could have been if they implemented the trust/whos the thing element better. Some elements in that game were amazing, many others were terrible. Wanted is ok if you have a free weekend and just want a blast. Get it cheap.

I'm going to say Aliens: Colonial Marines, out of pure hope.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

In fact I think its actually better than the movie it was based on!

Wolverine Origins was a good one, except for the final boss fight. Like the movie thats where it fell apart.

Goldeneye on the N64, dated graphics by todays standards, but it is as solid as they come.

The only favourite movie base game I can remember is Hook which was a fun side scroll despite being hard later on (yeah I don't play that many movie base games at all).

Goldeneye 64 - i've to agree.

No movie related game made me dump more hours into it than that pearl of gaming history.

Oh wow, I haven't played that in years. I need to try to find a copy somewhere. Two Towers was also pretty good, but it feels kind of clunky compared to RotK. (Or what I remember of RotK, anyway)

The absolute best would probably be Spider-Man 2. Not only is it a genuinely great game, it doesn't fall in the common trap of completely glossing over the movie's story. Doc Ock still gets a ton of build-up, and you still get the "Should I be Spider-Man or Peter Parker" dilemna, just presented differently.

The King Kong game was pretty fun, It had solid shooting mechanics, good voice acting, and a decent story.
Agreed, I loved this game, especially the playing-as-Kong sections.
And Spider-Man 2, of course.

Jaws Unleashed was pretty damn awesome. I think it counts.

I mean... you're a shark that eats people? How cool is that...

You fight Killer Whales, Giant Squid, and even those evil rape loving bastards known as Dolphins.

The thing I really liked about that was Black Cat's involvement. She raised some really good points for Peter about whether or not being a superhero was worth it. Plus, her missions were the most fun in the game.

Exactly. Using Black Cat was a really clever way to get around the "Spider-Man no more" thing while still presenting the same character arc.

Heh, though I'll never forget how hard her missions were the first time I ever played it. I still hadn't really gotten the hang of web-swinging, so following her was like this huge trial & error ordeal. Now I can keep up with her so easily that I almost want her to move faster.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine for me.

It was everything the movie should have been: bloody, visceral, uncompromising in it's violence.

Other than that, I actually quite liked Spider-Man 3; it was the sheer size of the Manhattan area that you could explore that endeared me. Of course, Spider-Man 2 was better, I just liked Spider-Man 3 as well.

Star Wars Episode I: Racer

Seriously.. it was one of the most entertaining things to be taken out of any movie and put into a game.

This. I played and replayed it over and over again. Also if I may add Star Wars Revenge of the sith was also pretty good from what I remember.
