The Harpists from Kung Fu Hustle - I'm convinced these two have the best fight sequences I've ever seen in a kung-fu flick. The Harpists are assassins hailed as the greatest martial artists in circulation due to the Beast being in the looney bin (it's explained in the movie), and the Axe Gang hires them to get rid of the Three Masters, Coolie, Tailor and Donut. Between the Harpists' fights with Tailor and Donut and the Fated Couple (Landlord and Landlady), these two show that rythm isn't a dancer, it's a sword-wielding precision killing machine. The CGI effects their harp produce are great, especially when they use their ultimate attack on the Landlord. If I saw that coming for me, I'd head for the border.

A Kung Fu Hustle sequel is slated for 2010, so here's hoping the Harpists come back to lay down more smack.

Hmmm... I'm going to say Frank the rabbit out of Donnie Darko.

He's certainly a memorable character.

Movie villains. Everyone likes them, even the bad ones, because most of the time they are placed against some stupid hero, who has spent the entire movie getting his ass kicked, and then to magically overcome the complicated plan the villain has made.

But this thread isn't about that, what are the best movie villains you've ever seen? I think that they are:

John "Jigsaw" Kramer, the main antagonist from the Saw movies- Even though the quality of the movies is disputable, the fact that they have one of the best villains ever, isn't. Jigsaw is one of a kind, he's more brilliant than even Hannibal Lecter, and he's also not a murderer. He never directly kills his victims, he never even intends them to die, he just wants them to appreciate their life more. But what was a real selling point for him was, that he never lies. The best example is in Saw II, but if you haven't watched it, I won't spoil it for you.

Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter- You should all know this one, he's the antagonist of the Silence of the Lambs. Again, as John he is really brilliant, and also is physically able, I mean he overcomes two trained police guards, he sprays the one with pepper spray, and bites the other one's face off.

Joker- More specifically, Joker from the Dark Knight. He's a mad man, he's evil, but he wants to prove that everyone else is, too. I liked the two ships thing he did, and he was intending to blow them both up, if Batman hadn't stopped him.

Adrian Veidt- Of course, he was a comic book character, but with the recent Watchmen movie, I think that he qualifies for this list, too. I liked him because he's essentially, a good person. It's arguable that in Watchmen, he saved the future of the Earth, of course he killed the entire population of New York, but the point is he saved the world.

Joker is a comic book character too and he is sure as hell even more awesome in the comic.

As for movie characters, like you stated Hannibal Lector really takes the cake, But Tyler Durton off fight club? That gets you.

He also wasn't a villain the last time I watched it?? (literally last week)

I saw him more as an angel of fate more than anything.

The witch... thing from troll 2. If acting could kill, this woman would be a doomsday weapon. And who else can make popcorn porn? Yes, popcorn porn.

I don't know... he certainly did more harm than good to Donnie.

Bill from Kill Bill. Seriously, just really think about what he did to the Bride. All of it. He's a goddamn madman.

Pennywise the Dancing Clown from IT. One of the best horror films IMO, and Pennywise was weird. He didn't really try to kill people all the time; he'd be just as happy scaring them for laughs.

Gary Oldman's corrupt, pill-popping, Beethoven-loving, psychotic DEA agent in Leon: The Professional takes the cake.

Now, since none of you mentioned the movie, you must go and watch it, now. I'll wait.

Suprised none of you haven't mentioned the most evil of evil characters of all time in movie history:

Nurse Ratched
