I personally was always fond of Hey Arnold. It's funny, characters are likable, the music is good... Overall, great show.

I am actually rewatching the entire series of Hey Arnold right now. Wal-mart was selling the thing for only twenty bucks, so I couldn't pass it up. And I have to say, I'm really enjoying it all over again.

For me, I think it's a toss up between Doug and Hey Arnold. Both shows dealt with some serious issues in great ways, had characters that were more than just cliches, and stayed true to their cores. It actually makes me a bit sad when I compare it to cartoons nowadays.

Haha! The oddball who doesn't like Avatar or Hey Arnold! approaches. I never watched Avatar seriously and actually disliked Hey Arnold!. Best show would be down to Danny Phantom or Fairly Odd Parents for me. I enjoyed the art style and premise for both shows. Not to mention the kick ass intro songs.

I'll admit though, I was more of a Cartoon Network fan, preferring Courage, Grim and Evil, and Teen Titans.
Oh how can I forget Danny fuckin Phantom.

Man that show is underrated. The Deviantart and Fanfiction community is doing everything to keep this show alive. I mean Danny Phantom is sixth place for having the most fanfic stories in the Cartoon section.

I wanted to say Avatar, but re-watching it now I've noticed it often has moments where it does just feel like a kids show. Have to wait till I finish it.

I don't know, Spongebob is usually a lot of fun and very memorable, or Ren & Stimpy because the psychotic manner to it is not only something I don't usually see, but it just has those screwed moments that really stand out.

There is only one answer for me: Ren & Stimpy. It was the only one that transcended from being just a children show. Oh, man! Everybody was quoting the hell out of that show. As popular as the other shows that other people have mentioned, I don't think I ever heard anyone quote them as commonly as when Ren & Stimpy were in their prime.

EDIT: Sorry I can't resist adding some videos of classic Ren & Stimpy moments.

Outside of Avatar: TLAB, the one I like the best among them is Invader Zim.

I would say "/thread" because that was the greatest cartoon of all time, but as we're all aware that one wasn't on Nick.

I'd like to say Rocko's Modern life as that was always my favorite when I was a kid, Ren & Stimpy was certainly great for it's surreal and crude humor, and Angry Beavers was just fun.

Buuuuuuut if I'm being perfectly honest, then I'd really have to go with Spongebob as my all-time favorite. Lets face it, the writers for that show are superb in being able to create a kid-friendly show with just baaaaaarely enough humor that even adults can laugh at so that they won't go insane when their kid wants to watch a marathon of it.

Rocko and Invader Zim are among my favorite childhood cartoons, and the best of the Nick bunch, But I will always consider the Steven Speilberg cartoons to be the top of the list when it comes to best cartoon.

I was coming in here all ready to put a vote in for Fairly Odd Parents, but being reminded of Danny Phantom makes the choice a little tricky.
I think I stopped watching Danny Phantom later on into the series where it seemed to fly off the handles a bit (I have vague memories of one of the bad guys being, like, Danny's ghost form from the future or something?), but all the earlier episodes were freakin' great. And I liked the way Danny gradually got better with his powers and got the hang of new ones as the series went on, fairly standard in a superhero TV show but I still think it was done kinda well. A lot of the ghosts were pretty neat too. Ember will always be a favourite, mostly just because I still really like the Remember song from her episode, cheesy as it is.

As for Fairly Odd Parents, it's one that I remember fondly but I don't dare go and watch nowadays because I get the feeling it won't hold up so well today. Cosmo was comedy in it's purest form back when I was 13, but nowadays he'd probably just be nothing but irritating.

Even now its not often you get a kids cartoon that could consistently make the parents laugh alongside of the children, let alone fifteen years ago.
That seems a rather odd statement to make in a thread specifically about Nicktoons, given so many have done just that.

Oh, and in no p[articular order, Avatar, Avatar, and Avatar.

The Ultimate Enemy was the best episode of Danny Phantom by far.

Out of all the shows on Cartoon Network, Ed, Edd, n Eddy at least HAD a proper finale. (Big Picture Show)

Still waiting for that Samurai Jack finale Genndy :p

I wouldn't hold your breath for that. :p

As for the Eds, the characters and writing for that show were amazing. All the running gags never got old (my favorite being how when you see Johnny, 9 times out of 10 he's got his massive head stuck in a random object). I also like how every now and then they'd break the 4th wall with a bit of self-aware humor.

"You know Eddy...we could just go watch the movie marathon at one of our houses."
"What, and ruin the plot?"

(I forget what it was, but Edd points something out, and Eddy responds)
"No duh, I pointed that out like 3 pages ago!"

During the "flashback" episode:
Ed: "I remember it like it was only 2nd season!"

In terms of favorite Nicktoons, my top 5 favorites are:

*Avatar: The Last Airbender
*Hey Arnold
*The Angry Beavers
*Rocko's Modern Life
*My Life as a Teenage Robot

It's a shame the good shows are being ignored now in favor of stupid comedy, with the decent stuff being placed late at night just to pander to the nostalgia crowd.

...Why yes, I am bitter, why do you ask?

For me, probably a tie between Hey Arnold and the Adventures of Pete and Pete.

They have had a few really strong shows over the years, so it's kind of hard to really narrow it down. I suppose honorable mention goes to Doug, the new ninja turtles series, Avatar (the last air bender, not that crappy sequel), legends of the hidden temple, guts, invader zim, are you afraid of the dark, and eerie indiana.

Hmm, that was a lot more of my childhood than I thought. Still, after all that it's hard to beat cn's courage the cowardly dog.

(I know I have several live action kids' shows on my list, but I stand by them all the same. For a brief period there Nick was putting out excellent live action children's programming and I feel they deserve some recognition for it.)

When it come to current Nickeloden cartoons, I would go TNMT. Sure Korra was great but it was incosistent when it come to the characters and plot. Ok sure TNMT isn't pefect either but I enjoyed the hell more than Korra.

Rocko, Hey Arnold, Avatar... and I'm gonna give a shout-out to the first couple of seasons of Danny Phantom.
