Otogi: Myth Of Demons also has some outstanding background music. Being a game based on Japanese mythology, the soundtrack is made up of traditional Japanese instruments, combined with weird, avant-garde noises. Again, when combined with the visuals and the story, it creates a game with a huge sense of atmosphere.

I know Daystar will hate me for this, but I personally think the Otogi series is a far superior take on Japanese mythology than Okami. The art direction is stronger, the visuals more dreamlike, and the soundtrack just exquisitely ethereal. And it's a hack-and-slash game featuring fully destructible environments. How can Okami compare?

I agree with everything you said there. I absolutely loved the original and sadly didn't have a chance to play the second one...I'll find it eventually of course. I can't really top that so I'll just mention another BGM I'm fond of which would be Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears from the Castlevania series

While the music I have the greatest appreciation for is classical orchestra, I've recently been listening to a lot of midi music, Megaman 1-6 mostly. I discovered this song recently and instantly fell in love with it, it's amazing what people can do with severe limitations when creating music.

You beat me to posting those two songs. Nothing can top Shadow of the Colossus in terms of an epic, soaring soundtrack, except for possibly the entire Journey soundtrack.

I only ever played We <3 Katamari, but if the soundtrack of Katamari Damacy is even half as good as that one, then it must be fantabulous As far as I know, Katamari Damacy was never released in the PAL region, but I have heard the second song you posted, the main theme.
