Well, MediEvil 1 got a Resurrection on the PSP. Now, it's time for the second game, and then make a third game where Zarok's 'Time Device' has gone out of control and altered history.

That, and of course the usual "We want FF7 remnade!" shout-out.

Metal gear solid.

The first few Crash Bandicoot games should be uppgraded, not changed, just uppgraded graphics and make em playable on a new console. <3

Wip3out.. well, I guess Wipeout HD counts. Kind of. Needs more minimalism.

Soul Reaver

Ogre Battle

Warhammer: Dark Omen (I can barely remember this game, but I remember liking it)

Final Fantasy VII is the stock answer; it's easy to forget how revolutionary it was. But maybe that's exactly why it shouldn't be remade.
I'd like to smack the next person who says that.

Why all this talk about remakes? Remakes are evil! Remakes are spawned from the lowest circle of hell. The 208th circle for unpleasable whiny dipshit gamers.

I probably wouldn't mind seeing an Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee remake.

Hell, I was against it at first, but I'm actually hoping for an FF7 remake as well. As much as I like the game as it is, I wouldn't mind an update to the English translation. Because I think it held back a potentially great story due to it's typos and engrishy grammar.

EDIT:

[small](I'm assuming you mean remakes as in updated re-releases in the vein of the upcoming Team ICO HD collection, not remakes as in reboots like Wolfenstein and the new X-COM game.)[/small]

Remakes are good way for people to play classic games without having to go out and find an obsolete console to play something that will be mangled on a modern display (if it works at all). Even most PS2 games don't run optimally on a new TV, since they never included a 16:9 option.

Besides, this isn't cinema. Polygonal graphics age, and they age hard. FF7, for instance, has some absolutely horrible character models by modern standards. I'm not saying that makes the game unplayable, but no matter how you look at it, it detracts from the experience. New players will have a hard time looking past Cloud's bizarre pipe-cleaner-with-a-bowling-ball-at-the-end arms, and while they ought to be able to look past it, they really shouldn't have to.

That, and old games can be a pain to track down.

[sub]But people do need to shut up about FF7 already. They aren't remaking it. Deal w/it.[/sub]

You're only point that I consider valid is the hard to track down thing, but that's what the Virtual Console, PSN, and XBox LIVE Arcade are for. ...well okay, that and the not displaying properly on modern displays, but again I reference Virtual Console etc.

Graphics can't possibly be that big a deal, after all how many people are playing fucking MINECRAFT.

They may not be a huge deal, but bad graphics can be an unnecessary distraction. Minecraft doesn't have a story/a setting/characters/etc, so it's not that much of an issue there. The graphics serve their purpose. And they're in 1080p + Widescreen.

I can't speak for Virtual Console, but XBL and PSN have depressingly small libraries of old games. The European PSN has 5 PS1 RPGs right now, and three of those are Final Fantasy. They don't offer PS2 games as downloads, so that leaves a pretty big backlog of games that are left obscure.

As for XBL, well, that is mostly remakes, they wouldn't be in widescreen otherwise. There are some on-demand games from the original Xbox, but that's it.

I do kind of agree, though. I would much rather have all the older games released on a digital distribution platform than have a developer remake all of them. Unfortunately, that just doesn't seem to be happening, and I prefer playing a remake to checking eBay. There have been some really good re-releases too (Disgaea and Persona 3 for the PSP, for example).

Or do you mean remakes in the literal sense of re-making the game completely from scratch? I don't know if they've ever done that, but it would be kind of pointless, yes.

I'd go for the game CTR: Crash Theme Racing. It was fun, had multiplayer, and was just all around better than mario cart :l

Absolutely Valkyire Profile and Legend of Dragoon. Resident Evil 2 would be nice.

I like how the majority of these games are JRPGs. They used to be so much better.

I would like to see Warzone 2100 remade for the PC rather than the PS3. RTS games don't tend to work on consoles and Warzone had an interesting modular design process for the units.
