I have so far only seen one person say TimeSplitters 2.

The Escapist, you disappoint me.

Rogue Galaxy is the proto-typical JRPG plotline with a Star Wars (New Hope) flair.

Probably the best example of a JRPG done right.
Thank you for reminding me that I still need to beat my copy of that.

I'm going to go with Persona 4. Can't really think of any other game more deserving.

Shadow of the colossus, followed by Resident evil 4. I have spent more hours with the later then I care to count, and the first is just too polished to not include.

StarWars. Battlefront. 2.

Fucking awesome game.

Not only the best PS2 game, but one of the best games ever.

I actually sold my PS3 just so I could buy my PS2 back again to play that game.

Timesplitters 2, Deus Ex: The Conspiracy, and FFXII. I recently found my uncle's PS2 just to play these three games.

Though I'm in the middle of my university exams, so this might not have been the *best* idea I've ever had.

I have to admit, I haven't played many PS 2 games, even less than 10.
But you know, I just have to write "Kingdom Hearts 2" and your argument is invalid ;)

Final Fantasy X.
The last truly great FF and my favorite PS2 game.
Good to know someone agrees with me :)
I concur, also loved SSX Tricky, GTA San Andreas and Vice City as well as both Kingdom Hearts games regardless of my ability to decipher what the hell was going on there.

I'm going to choose Destroy All Humans! just because it was so original, extremely funny and fun.

These two win a cookie for being awesome and correct at the same time.

Depends on what you mean by "best," of course. If you mean actual highest quality, God of War is a damn fine game, as are Persona 4, Dragon Quest VIII, Silent Hill 2, We <3 Katamari, and any number of others. My favorite? Nearly impossible to choose. The PS2 library is probably the best of any game-playing system. Not only is it widely varied, it's so huge that no matter what genre you pick, you can find at least one stellar example.

Easy: Shadow of the Colossus. Also second best game of all time on any platform ever. For the uninitiated, the intro gives you an idea of what it's like - us fans can watch it just because it's beautiful:
Dig that soundtrack. Kow Otani bringing down the house, everyone.
That's all realtime PS2 graphics, BTW.

But GundamSentinel is right, PS2 definitely still has the greatest game library in the console world. In fact I'd only hold the PC above it in terms of number and quality of good games. The hits kept coming even well into the PS3 era.

Oh so many awesome choices...

I'll probably have to go with Kingdom Hearts 2, to be honest.
Next to Metal Gear Solid 2, I've played KH2 the most out of any Ps2 game.

Other than that, a close runner up would be either something like Okami, Persona 3 or even Soul Reaver 2.

SR2 was kinda like my Beyond Good and Evil. Loved it, but I thought Reaver was much better and way more underrated.

Apart from FFX, which i dislike purely because i find most JRPG's boring, im happy to quote this.

This is impossible to determine as the quality of a game is subjective.
Thats kind of the point. Your post is suppose to be your opinion.

Rogue Trooper because it was one of the first games with a cover system.

It also had upgrades and RPG elements to forge the way you fight. It's also just flat out fun going around as a blue guy murdering the other army.
