While not overly badass, the main character from Prometheus, Elizabeth Shaw, was a fantastic representation of an intelligent, rational, religious character. I was greatly impressed with the way she was portrayed and how she responded to the unfolding events while still maintaining her beliefs. It's just nice sometimes to see that kind of faith in a movie, rather than being used by a villain as justification for an atrocity or reason for a character to act irrationally or something (and I have a pretty low opinion of religion in general, but Elizabeth Shaw actually put me in mind of the majority of my religious friends, while most media tends to make me think of the one or two ridiculously fanatical people I know).

Hmmmm not sure if he counts as religious, but he is involved to some point:
Guts from Berserk. The manga mostly, I haven't seen the anime/movie. I could also throw in Griffith from the same manga.

And Book. Also, Fujimoto from Ao no exorcist (godfather to main character, basically a badass priest exorcist while seeming like your kind-hearted, philanthropic priest).

The Emissery of the Prophets, baby. Benjamin Sisko is basically future Samuel L Jackson if Samuel L Jackson was picked by alien gods to be their go to guy.
From what I remember, Sisko wasn't all that religious, and sometimes got quite sick of all that Emissary of the Prophets nonsense.
?
That's not what he looks like!

Thaddeus from Mogworld. Simply because he would not shut the god damn fuck up about his religion for the whole book and then turned around at the end and badassed his way to victory.

Either that or Sheppard Book from Firefly. He was nice and had no problem with kneecapping someone.

Berserk was absolutely stunning in how it managed to use Western style fantasy in a mashup with Japanese myth in manga, without getting preachy or over-loading it's own willing suspension of disbelief with ridiculous fight scenes or invincible characters so it held it's suspense. Truly everything I look for in manga and more. Also, when a character is named after entrails, you know he's gonna have be able to rip off demon's heads with his bare hands.
