Modern Warfare 2. Alot of better improvements and Soap actually talked!! *fist pumps*
I don't know about that... the stealth sniper mission in the first Modern Warfare raised the bar pretty high.

have you ever noticed how reviewers tend to give lower scores to sequels even when the sequels are better?
(9.5 for ME2 and 9.75 for ME1 by game informer, for ex.)

CoD: Modern Warfare 2 compared to World at War

EDIT: Also Red Dead Redemption (if you consider it a sequel)

Secret of Mana(2) - Excellent classic game

Final Fantasy Adventure(Secret of Mana 1) - I won't ever wash the memory from my mind, I'm not sure if I've ever hated any protagonists as much as I did in this game.

Devi May Cry 3 is definitely going to pop up a lot. I'm of the same opinion of how awesome it is.
Never got the love for that game. It seemed like after the first DMC Capcom just plain forgot how to make a proper difficulty curve.
That's part of the love man. I love a good challenge.
I will fully admit that there's a good chance I just sucked at it.

I aswell liked Mass Effect 2 over Mass Effect 1.
The plot wasn't as good (in 2 you just mess about while finding people and being friends with them) but gameplay blah bleh blurgh was so much better.

I raged quit 1 because of the vehicle section and I found combat infuriating.

In 2 combat was annoying for a different reason but I could manage the annoyance.

Say what you will about Killzone 2, it was miles better than the first game, which was severely overhyped. Not to say the second one wasn't, but it was way better.
you are so seriously wrong. Killzone had a better story, better environments and waaaay more atmosphere.

killzone - from ruined city to swamp to beach assault to moutains to space.
killzone 2 - grey ruined city to brown ruined city to black ruined city to grey space ship
In terms of gameplay, it was far better. I won't argue that the first game had the better story, but your teammates are retarded, and the enemy is either made up of monkeys or green berets. The second game was way more polished.

I detested Far Cry but found that Far Cry 2 has been one of my most enjoyable and immersive gaming experiences ever.

Yeah I definitely have to agree with Assassin's Creed. 1 had a lot of great ideas and was incredibly innovative. In 2 they took all the best parts and polished them and took all the worst parts and improved them to be good.

Seriously? No one yet?

Portal 2! The first is brilliant but the second one is even more fun to play, plus the first one hit me out of left field while this one buried the "anticipation" needle so maybe I'm biased.

Medieval 2 Total War. Not that the first was bad, but the sequel was so good the difference was amazing.

Also, I realize I'm going to get flayed alive but I'm just going to come and say it:

DRAGON AGE 2.

I just thought the characters were much better (except for Sten maybe) and having a talking protagonist made such a difference.
Again, the first wasn't bad. It was excellent. I just loved DA2 even more.

I'd probably say Uncharted. First one was not a terrible game but, comparing to Among The Thieves, its not a really good game.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 1 was by far one of the worst plots I've ever gone through. The entire plot was you asking someone to shoot a meteor with a laser that they could have done so anyway.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2's plot was by far one of the best plots I've ever gone through. I won't give spoilers for it.

Gameplay wise, Mystery Dungeon 2 got better (Minor Improvements helped) and "Getting 'em all" was much easier.

Thats my worst to best

Skate 2. Skate was pretty bad, especially since you couldn't get off the board, and then Skate 3 just improved on Skate 2. At least they know how to make games.

I dunno how Red Dead didn't get into anyone's list, but whatever I'll certainly toss it into the mix.

Dragon quest is a series that's been getting better as time goes on... 2 was better than one. 3 was better than 2. 4 was better than 3. five and six kinda piddled around but were still pretty good. seven was good better than the rest. eight was damn good. Nine is the best in the series, makes me excited to see Dragon quest 10.

Disgaea is a series that shows steady improvement with each new release, while maintaining the basics that made it good.

I'm not certain how good Saints Row was, but Saints row 2 was so good I'm not sure anyone can deny that it's a much better game.

And what about Super Mario? nobody mentions how it was steady improvement for a while? no? well whatever.

For me breath of Fire was great, but then Breath of Fire 2 was so much better, then breath of fire 3 was just stellar perfection! I loved it so much! Then breath of fire 4 wasn't very good... then the next one just sucked. hard. so hard there hasn't been another one since. a promising RPG series sucked into the black hole of it's own ass. So sad.
