I'm going to do a reverse choice here(Meaning: Best game to a Terrible Sequel): Mercenaries

Resident Evil 4 was worlds better that the games leading up to it.
I should also probably mention Resistance 2. The first was crushingly mediocre, but the second was so good I put 100 hours into it without even noticing how much I was playing it.

I thought Condemned: Criminal Origins was an uninteresting, underwhelming experience but thus far I've been immensely enjoying Bloodshot.
I can't think of any terrible games with great sequels. But Assassin's creed had a great sequel, really thats the only sequel that I can think of, that had ever truly out did the original in ever way. And no one said they liked the first more.

Saints Row 1 wasn't terrible, it just wasn't very good. SR2, however, is one of my all time favorite games.
Half Life 2: Episode One.
I'm sorry, I didn't like Half Life 2. It dragged on and on and on and it always felt like I never knew what to do or where to go.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is heads and shoulders above Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. This is most likely due to Hideo Kojima taking the helm for Peace Walker.

and I gotta agree with people saying assassin's creek 2
1 wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great by the longshot. tried to play it after i played 2 but...erghh (altho admittedly 2 and botherhood aka 2.5 became more and more easy as far as combat goes)
It didn't need to be streamlined, it needed to be fixed, and instead of doing that, BioWare just decided to take the lazy route and add a linear upgrade system for armor/weapons instead.duchaked said:
