Best soundtrack in a game?

I don't care what Yahtzee said, my vote goes to Nier. I love that soundtrack even more than that of SotC.

I completely agree with you there, I completed NieR and loved every minute of it (and cried a few times too). The soundtrack for NieR is available in Asia and/or iTunes. I can't stop listening to it! (I'm actually choosing to play games that have no plot so I can listen to it as my custom soundtrack lol...eg PGR3/4 or grinding in an RPG).

OT...games I've simply had to get the soundtracks for are:
Fallout 3
Final Fantasy (most of them inc. Piano versions)
Halo (all of them except ODST so far..do want though)
Jet Set Radio
Katamari
NieR
Rez
Silent Hill (most of them)

I'm sure there's more, I just can't remember right now.

For as many game soundtracks as I own, the one that I favor the most heavily would be Shadow Hearts 2.
With Chrono Cross being a close second. But Shadow Hearts 2 was the most uniformly amazing. Piano, violin and fiddle in almost every song? Hell yes!

BioShock and Uncharted 2 also stand out in my mind.

The Witcher soundtrack impressed me greatly. Very nice celtic style music which works marvellously well with the game. Here are a couple of peaceful scores for good ambience.

Final Fantasy 9. All 99 of its songs were great. Even the small ones to fill silences. Loved them all when I played it.

Well Iam going to say Final Fanatsy 10 but everyone notice how most of us seem to be going for japanese games. I feel that japanese soundtracks are fully orcastrated music pieces while western games seem to go for ambient music rather than orcastrated.

Which ever is better is down to personal preference.
