My vote would go to Have I Got News For You, yes I am aware that is started sometime in the 80s. OK it only has about 2 series a year but I think it is political satire at its finest, except for The Thick of It. Also there's the fact that they have guest hosts for every show. I admit that some of them are mediocre, but others were brilliant, as Brian Blessed will now demonstrate.

For some reason I didn't really get into Mock the Week. Don't get me wrong it's a good show but I just prefer HIGNFY.

That was a fantastic episode! I have never laughed so much in my life. God bless the Blessed and all who sail in him.

Winner: Arrested Development HANDS DOWN.
Runner Up: Proooobably, Flight of the Conchords.

Two shows that have made me laugh more than anything else.

LOST all the way. I mean, have you seen the last episode "The Substitute"? THE NUMBERS man, THE NUMBERS!!!

EDIT: Other 2 I forgot: Farscape and The Sopranos. I don't see how anything can beat these 3 TV shows. Words of a simple mortal such as myself couldn't even describe the awesomeness of these shows, especially LOST.

Lost is the best program I've watched in my entire life. Even the episodes that are considered bad have writing and acting superior to virtually everything else out there (which I've seen).

Mysterious, tragic, funny - I must have cried at almost every episode of the bloody thing, and I can't even remember the last time I cried about anything to do with real life.

I'll be sad when it ends, yet I cannot wait for the ending.

Oh, and I haven't watched ANYTHING from season 6 yet - if any of you say anything to me about it I'll rip out your throat. I've been watching it since I was 10 and I've never hit a spoiler of any size.

Dude, I'm just gonna say this: even if you're of perfect health be prepared to call the paramedics because you're heart is going to stop. No one could have predicted what was gonna happen in this season. There is no such theory that comes even close to what LOST has in store for us this year.

After each episode I had to meditate on what I just saw and then in words of wise John Locke: "I'm gonna have to watch that again"

But LOST isn't just a TV show that I watch, i Think it's an illness in my case. I'm pretty much obsessed.

SCRUBS!!! I love that show, except for season 9! Why would they make another season after they had already aired a finale?!

Also I think Southpark is the most hilarious show ever!

You just made me feel really old.
You should check out some of the shows I've listed a few posts above yours, now that you're old enough. ;)
Will do, and can you please tell the guy in the post above the one you just made that I'm going to tear his face off; because he's just tried to give me some form of pre-season "you won't believe it" and that's far too much information.

EDIT: You know, I've thought about watching The Sopranos and never got round to it.

Maybe after Lost...

When considering this question, I tend to look at which shows I would enjoy rewatching. Clearly I'm not going to take the time to rewatch a show I have no vested interest in. Thus I produced the following list:

Firefly
Dexter
Arrested Development
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Battlestar Galactica 2003
Doctor Who
Scrubs
30 Rock
Defying Gravity (Underrated)
The Office (US)

My list is not short, but if pressed I could pick out one, depending on my mood. It is also severely shortened from the list of shows I watch.

Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I honestly find this show hilarious. Family Guy has sort of been on the decline in my eyes. "Something Something Dark Side" may have turned me off for good. It was cringe-worthy for about 85% of the episode.

I just finished season three of The Wire. Man, no show has the ability to break your heart like that one. The characters are so deep and even the most despicable ones are still sympathetic. Screw the last decade, The Wire is the best show in the history of TV.
