Right, so a few threads about cancelled shows. And incidentally Lost is coming to an end.

Here's one, whats the best tv series of all time in your opinion.

Include genres, a particular season or episode if you wish.

I nominate Have I Got News For You, solely for being consistently hilarious and still running.

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, with commentary. It's preposterously good.

I love it. Also Never Mind the Buzzcocks and QI. You can't beat a good panel show with a great line up (I personally like Sean Lock, Rhod Gilbert, Reginald D. Hunter, David Walliams, and Jimmy Carr. And Rob Brydon).

Bottom.

Bottom or The IT Crowd.
I preferred The Young Ones. I had it on video and knew the first episode dialogue by heart.

The Simpsons (stayed fresh for 18 years before the inevitable rotting after Season 19)
LOST (more mysterious and thrilling than Heroes or any other TV show)

EDIT
Monty Python's Flying Circus

I'd have to say, Twin Peaks, eventhough it kinda started to suck after episode 15 or so.

That or The Sopranos.

It has to be cancelled?
So like, it isn't shown anymore???

Ugh, I'll just say The Simpsons, apart from the news and a couple movies, that's pretty much all I watch on TV.

Its kinda hard to compare shows to another for being the 'best', so lets split it out in genres.

Comedy: definitely Family Guy :).
Sci-Fi: Star Trek TNG (some would say StarGate/Battlestar Galatica but they suck!)
Adventure: LOST I think....
Action: The A-Team!!11!!
Horror/magical: I liked Charmed for a good while, but I dont know if it beats Buffy/Angel.

Just my two cents

I'm quite fond of Rome [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0384766/], so I'll go with that.

On a similar note, QI. Man, i love that show. If i ever see Stephen Fry on the street, i just want to go up to him and give him a massive kiss.

Every ep. solid hilarity gold. The best representation of teenage life, the actors not overly attractive but average, like me! So this means they won't be *expletive-ing* each other like every other show about "teens" i.e. EVERY other tv series. A bunch of meaningless sex and money-driven reality shows. Simple enough to grasp, situations like best friend dating an "ugly" girl. I'm sure we've been there before. Making jokes behind his back, feeling bad about it, life lesson learnt.

It was very easy to relate to everything that Kevin was going through, he was just an ordinary kid. A typical all American teenage boy, not someone with a super talent, not angsty in any way, regular in every reguard. The characters, a full cast of absolutely phenomenal actors, resemble everyday life and not what the world thinks it should be.

If I could have ever only watched one t.v. show this would be it. Screw Southpark, screw Heroes, Lost, CSI:Miami, Sopranoes, Doctor Who, The A-Team (close second), Blackadder (close as well), Scrubs, Friends...

My personal favourite show of all time and forever/eternity: The Wonder Years. I could go on for another 100 words but I will respect everyone elses choices. Your tv programs are not bad choices, this show is not "better" than any of yours. This is MY favourite show and so I leave you with this...

"Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers, the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place, a town, a house like a lot of other houses, a yard like a lot of other yards, on a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back, with wonder. "

Monty Python's Flying Circus, the first 3,5 seasons anyway, are just insane genius. I never tire of them.

Second and fourth season of Blackadder too.

I think I have to say Dexter.

There are shows that have made me laugh more (and those are always high up on the list) but I cant think of a single show that has had so interesting characters, so AMAZING music, such fantastic use of colors, such a winner intro...all in all such a complete package in every way.

The first season of Dexter is one of the greatest things I have experienced in television. So I have to say Dexter.
