I've got quite a few TV shows that to me are some of the best things around. So here goes:
Star Trek (any series)
Stargate SG1 and Atlantis (didn't really like Universe that much)
NCIS
Studio Sixty on the Sunset Strip
The Sopranos
Sons of Anarchy (Quite recent but god damn its brilliant)
The West Wing
Futurama
South Park
How I met Your Mother
Scrubs
Fraiser
Monty Pythons Flying Circus
The A Team
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
The IT Crowd

Theres more I could add but these are the shows I think are some of the best around.

There's so much to pick from! I guess I could just list my favourites and the episodes.

Scrubs - My Musical
How I Met Your Mother - Spoiler Alert!
IT Crowd - Calamity Jen!
Life On Mars (British version) - Pilot and Finale (They were both brilliant)
Better Off Ted - Don't have a favourite episode.

Firefly is probably my favourite, though it was cancelled just as it was really getting into the swing of things. *sadface*

Always loved futurama, and the fact that it isn't as overplayed as the simpsons helps a good bit too.

Does anime count? What's that? It does you say! Great!
*ahem*
Full metal alchemist, Claymore, Death note, Elfen lied, Darker than black, and a bajillion more. Anime is great, so it is.

Mystery Science Theater 3000. Ten seasons of making the unwatchable enjoyable.

Monty Python's Flying Circus ranks a close second for its sheer brilliance.

I think either M*A*S*H or The Simpsons, both are great comedy's and still the most entertaining shows I've ever seen. M*A*S*H also has a lot of drama sometimes, more in the later seasons when BJ comes in.

Definitely the David Bowie universe. By which I mean Life On Mars, and Ashes to Ashes; (they're both in the same universe with the same characters, so it counts as a single tv show split into 2 different eras.)

IT Crowd is a great show.
I love Scrubs, or Metalocalypse. But Metalocalypse isn't for you if you're squeamish or not a metalhead. A lot of the humour is referenceing death/black metal and the controversy around it, or it's so brutally over the top you laugh.

That was a good show, Also one of the few I had to watch in japanese!

Watching the latest season of 24 at the moment. It is so addictive! I never knew!

I think the remake of BSG is one of the finest tv shows I have watched, some moments being better than others of course.

But I do love a good comedy panel show... very easy tv, and mostly really funny... and with Have I Got News For You or QI you might learn something in the process. :)
