Going(somewhat)along with the recent case of zombie madness on the forums,I've decided to start a thread concerning another,if slightly less popular at the moment, undead creature, the vampire. more specifically the movies they star in. the first from dawn till dusk is my personal favorite for being directed by quentin tarintino and staring george clooney.mad special effects and balls to the wall vampire Vs. human battles make this a classic for me. I am still curious about what vampire movie my fellow forum people love.

I find 'Interview with a Vampire' to be the best I've seen so far, with 'From Dusk til Dawn' coming up a far second.

Near Dark is one of my favorite vampire films.

i just like the way it mixes the world of cross country serial killing with the mythology of vampirism.

Legend of the 7 golden vampires...its a vampire film, but its also a kung fu movie. Sheer genius. And its got Peter Cushing in it, ergo it wins.

Now it's totally Goth-ified for the new kids, but Underworld series. If anyone in this thread says Bloodrayne, they should be destroyed.

I loved Interview with the Vampire the first few times I saw it... so much that I read the book. Now I hate it for what it did to the masterpiece that is the book.

From Dusk Till Dawn is really good, but what does it for me is the sheer randomness.

"Oh, it's an interesting hostage situation with well-acted and conflicting characters... uh... what? 'Scuse me, VAMPIRES?! What?! Cool!"

Pedantically From Dusk Till Dawn was directed by Robert Rodriguez. Tarantino was responsible for the screenplay. [Trainspotter fanboy fact alert!] Samuel L Jackson's "path of the righteous man" monologue was originally written for Harvey Keital's character when he was alone and surrounded by vampires.

Anyway, (and despite having a foot fetish and a thing for latin ladies as well as being a huge Rodriguez fan) i would put Interview with a Vampire as the best i have seen.

The rash of zombie threads was my sole reason for joining the forums - I'm ashamed to admit the number of times I've watched some of my favorites. I had a class in college where we got to watch several vampire movies (best credits I ever earned) and some of the ones that have become favorites:

1) The Hunger (The Bowie.)
2) The Lost Boys (I have not watched the sequel yet, I'm a little afraid.)
3) Bram Stoker's Dracula -- I know, I know, this one was kind of awful, but something about young-goth-Gary-Oldman does it for me. A completely useless Carey Elwes also provided major entertainment value (and I say this as someone who worships The Princess Bride...and Saw).
4) OK, I admit it, I love From Dusk 'Til Dawn. ;) Anything that has Tom Savini introducing himself as "Sex Machine" is an automatic win.

Khell, I have a soft spot for Once Bitten, too...something about the geeky virginal Jim Carrey gets me every time!

Loved the first Underworld, fell asleep during the 2nd, and couldn't get into 30 Days of Night (I loved the premise but something in the execution didn't sit right with me).

Interview with a vampire, Lost boys, Fright night 1 and 2, 30 days of night, John Carpenters vampires, (bram Stokers i think) Dracula, Underworld 1 and 2 and Blades.

If you haven't seen any of these you should, really good.

I'm disappointed in you film student! The correct answer is Nosferatu, and NOT the Werner Herzog remake either.

Yay!

But they made a movie on that? I read the book...

Also, if anyone mentions "Twilight," their rectal cavity will have a twin.
