I've gotta go with John Marston. He's one of the most in-depth, well developed game characters I've ever played as.

I'm a little surprised that there's no Sir Walter on the list, but, hey, what are you gonna do? =D

Yeah, I'm seconding Mordin Solus. Not only is he absolutely hilarious, but he has probably the most tragic backstory and most heart-wrenchingly painful mission of all the new characters in the entire game. I had a bad first impression of him, but he totally won me over, and now I love him.

Hm instantly wrong, no ds games present.
How many original characters can there be on the DS this year? Though I suppose it's unfair they included the 'Wii' category even though they only had two characters.

Since when is Sam Fisher a 2010 character?

Since April this year I guess.

OT: None of those do it for me. I just don't know of any properly great character for this year, gaming wise.

i know he's from mass effect 1...but garrus. fucking garrus. if there is one person i would have from video games to have as a comrade it would be him instantly. i love his slight humor and loyalty and honesty

but if i were to stick to just 2010 characters that are basically new, i might have to go ahead and say mordin. he is quite possibly the most interesting character to come out of this year, and every time i play through i notice and laugh about something new i learn about/from him. hes definitely the best scientist i have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

OP: Sofia Lamb? really?

well, she's a good character, but her voice is just soooo annoying

I'd say Sinclair is better =P

but that's just my take

Well because I have been Xbox playing my ass off this year its a 2 way tie, with a close runner up.

Runner up is

John Marston from Red Dead Redemption. (A Badass cowboy who is also numerous...hell yeah he deserves at lest a 2nd place.)

Its a tie between

ALL of noble team from Halo Reach : I can't put my finger on it but there is something i just love about Noble team.)

And

Viktor Reznov from Call of Duty: Black OPs. (Loved him in World at War, and I love him in Black OPs. I Love the way he sounds to, Take for example when he says the line in the video "every journey begins with a single step" The way his voice gravels and shakes and his body movement as he says it just oozes of awesome.

With his fiery speeches and being voiced by Gary Oldman he has secured his place as one of my favorite characters of this year and of all time.

The Illusive Man, Kal'Reegar (Mass Effect 2. I don't care how small a role he played in the game, he's awesome!), John Marston and Bonnie MacFarlane (Red Dead Redemption), The King and Cass (New Vegas), Caesar Borgia, Trip and Monkey (Enslaved), Justice (Dragon Age Origins: Awakening)

These are characters that were introduced in games this year. I thought that was the idea.

Of those choices, I would pick Thane. He is just a very likeable character, good backstory, engaging relationship with his son and a good representation of an interesting culture in the game. Also, that entrance of his was just awesome.

My vote goes to Eliphas the Inheritor. His return this year in Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising served to remind me of just how much of a magnificent bastard this guy really is.

Mordin.

I liked Mr. House quite a bit, but New Vegas was about exploring the wasteland, not so much the main story which was a bit short, and so Mr. House didn't have much dialogue or backstory (A rich smart man is a rich smart man, what else is there to him?). Also, I liked John Henry Eden better.

I also would have picked Victor from New Vegas, but he's a bit character that's barely in the game.

So, I'd have to go with Mordin. Perhaps the best character out of ME2, and that game was full of great characters.
