Since when is Sam Fisher a 2010 character?
Sam's character has changed over time. In Conviction he's a different person than he was in his older games.

Anyway, I think I'm going with the Illusive Man. Brilliantly written, brilliantly acted, really managed to get an emotional response me from me.

Travis, Mordin, Alan Wake were probably my favorite game characters of 2010. As for my own personal choices, Ezio of AC: Brotherhood (and ACII), as well as Noble Six.

Why Noble Six, you ask? Weeell...

He/she's a lot less silent than the Chief, and easier to step into his/her armor, and that last sequence with Noble Six making his/her last stand against the Covenant was one of the most memorable moments in Halo: Reach, as well as being the most beautiful and tear-jerking. I can't remember the last time I felt so much attachment for any character in the Halo universe save for Johnson.

I'd go with Mordin. Pretty much anything that involved him was thought provoking to say the least. His attitude towards the genophage, him being torn between pure logic and spirituality, his questionable attitude towards the definition of "helping people" and so on.

Add to that some great dialogue jam packed with distinct personality, and you've got yourself the best video game character of 2010

This man deserves many cookies.

Ditto for me, The Illusive Man is just an incredible character. Martin Sheen did a good job voicing him.

Going with Scott Shelby.

Damn, did I love all of his sequences.
His were the most "fun" but the ending of the game was a complete and total cheat. Some parts made sense but others were utterly illogical and still others asserted that I clearly played through at least one scene differently than I was very sure I had.

Mordin.

I liked Mr. House quite a bit, but New Vegas was about exploring the wasteland, not so much the main story which was a bit short, and so Mr. House didn't have much dialogue or backstory (A rich smart man is a rich smart man, what else is there to him?). Also, I liked John Henry Eden better.
I thought Mr House had a good amount of backstory, infact he had way more backstory than Eden, especially considering Eden didn't technically have a back story, but he was one of the better "characters" in Fallout 3.

However, personally in Fallout: New Vegas my favourite character was Craig Boone, awesome voice and skills and a depressing past. Great companion.

John Marston was also a great character, very rich personality, philosophies, moral values and the like.

John Marston, hands down.
Just love him.
His backstory, everything. Voice-acted perfectly, and his moral dilemmas always intrigue me.
Plus he shows how you can still be a badass and have manners.
