AVP (the new one) for best ending.

Fallout 3's ending made me shed a tear or two or three.

The best ending that wasnt/was would have to be one of the old FF games (SNES I think).
I played it with my mom and I was a little further along than her so she came and joined me as I beat the baddie, the world is saved...and then Kefka blows everything we had spent time caring about all to heck and rips the world apart in firey doom.

We were both gasping in horror at it all. Then the character woke up again. I dont think I ever saved so fast so I coudl pass it off to her to catch up and see what happened next.

The end was great as was the fake end.

Now for awful game endings Ill have to condem them as a group, anything that gives a litle blurb that sums up as "Youve won, play again?" Its beyond lazy to do something like that.

Disturbing would have to be Alpha Centauri (unofficial Civ 2.5.). You have some where you an control everyone as a megacorp, force them to kneel to your god, all sorts of fun.

for me it would be the force unleashed. i mean the emperor takes him out with his pinkie finger and puts him in a sith stalker armor to kill all the jedi left in the galaxy does that sound good to you?

When Madison is at the book signing, I think I know who the guy threatening her is. It's.....

Gordi Kramer. It make sense when you think about his obsession with the Origami Killer that he would want to go after the woman who caught him. I know when Gordi said he was the Origami killer that he was lying(because it was way too soon to reveal the killer and a little too anticlimactic) but considering Gordi's idea of fun is imitating a serial killer. It would make sense for him to challenge Madison in order to surpass the Origami Killer.

This is the ending you get when you don't hook up with Ethan but you still help him save his son.

Well, I'll tell you my most Disturbing, because I can't think of the others.

After fighting the literal embodiment of hell and your own paranoia, and killing the suspect you were supposed to take in, you meet your friend who helped you through the whole thing in a restaurant. It turns out that she betrayed you too. You go into the bathroom, trying to make sense of the whole mess. And then, well...

This happens.

It totally freaks the shit out of me.
Yeah, that was the worst ending ever.

Too many games have too many endings these days.

Most disapointing - Lufia II. Hooray! I go through all that trouble, my main character defeats all the baddie gods and is so powerful, can teleport places, but the game chooses to make it more fitting to just kill him in the end. lame.

Best ending - Metal Gear Series. Yea, I don't know. Something about the very end...they always find some goofy way to twist things that make me not only want to buy the next one immediately, but also play through the whole game again to see if I missed something.

memorable endings -
-FF9, OMG ZIDANES NOT DEAD?!!? YESSHHH!!!!
-Half-Life, still not sure what happened
-Super Mario RPG, hooray mario
-Super Mario 2, it was all a dream...how did I not see that coming
-Warcraft III, WoW would NEVER had been as popular as it is/was if not for the amazing setup at the end of WarIII and the expansion.

In Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, there's actually more than that ending you described. And they pretty much all suck (as in, are bad for the protagonist).
Aren't there like 5 wish granter ending, then another two with the other thing?

OT:
Worst - Jericho. Loved the game but then end... you swim out of a cave, and that's it.
Best - Dunno. Crisis Core's was amazing, but incredibly sad.
Most Disturbing - FEAR 2. Haven't really seen many "disturbing" ending.

The Call of Duty: World at War ending was just freaking epic! Honestly, I liked the game itself, but the ending turned that like into love.

I was very underwhelmed by the KotOR good ending. I was expecting something more than "Thanks for everything, here's a medal."
I wholeheartedly agree. After KOTOR2 this ending just seemed like Bioware were joking on my account.

Planescape: Torment's ending showed quite a finesse which I haven't seen very often. The number of blank spots finally revealed in the Fortress were just baffling at the first playthrough. Even after you've beaten the final boss you're not quite sure as to for what reason the main character has to do what he does in the end.

Another good one was Grim Fandango; in all its simplicity it quite sentimental.

Metal Gear Solid is one of only two series that I've started a second play through immediately after completion of every game. Mass Effect is the other, which is less impressive because there's only two so far, MGS has done it to me 4 times now.
