What sequels to games do you think most improved on the original, or was worse than the original.

For the game that improves the most, I would have to give it to Assassins Creed II, and for a game being worse than the original, no game tops Fable II.

Half-Life 2 is the best sequel ever made by being one of the few to even surpass the original.

I'll agree with you on Fable 2. However, to ninja just about everyone, I'm also going to say KOTOR 2.

best seaqule? well since I'm guessing that since there's a street fighter 2 there must have been a street fighter. and since we don't here about the first one and everyone knows the second then I'm gonna go with that

worst: I can think of any off hand but I'm sure there's a horrid one out there

Meh, I liked KotOR II, ending aside. Say what you will, Kreia was fucking interesting.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory was the best one, it improved on all aspects of the first two by a long shot and had a great multiplayer.

I think the first Halo was the best of the series. The addition of duel wielding and so on in the second was good, but they flipped the story into something you'd expect out of a sci-fi drama on TV, the third was even worse (although none of them were bad.

Gears of War was better in many ways (especially multiplayer (excluding lag)) to the sequel, it became far too unbalanced in the second one.

I think every Tony Hawks game after 3 went downhill.

Best sequel: Alien movies

Worst sequel: Predator movies
Always a good idea to read the opening post, rather than just the title:

Oh no, I fucking loved KOTOR 2 (aside from the god forsaken opening on the mining station). However, they made the mistake of naming it KOTOR 2 instead of calling it:

Knights of the Slightly Newer Republic.... or something.

Their biggest mistake was making it a sequel to a dearly beloved game. A franchise by Bioware should always stay a Bioware franchise, because the fanboys will tear it apart otherwise.

True. Although, at this point, most people, including the fanboys, acknowledge that the game would have been completely amazing if Obsidian had been given time to finish.

Best Sequel: Metroid Prime 2: Echos.
Shure there were things wrong with it, and MP 1 will always hold a place over the mantle in my heart but, as far as sequels go, it was great.

Worst Sequel: Lunar: Dragon Song.
....i....i just.......it was bad.

Except that one isn't about better or worse sequels, but about which games should have more sequels or shouldn't. This thread is asking about existing ones, not ones we would/wouldn't like.

It could have been. But it wasn't.

And this has been proven with Neverwinter Nights 2 as well. Everyone knows that Obsidian is an amazing developer, they just need to distance themselves from Bioware.

If they don't fuck Alpha Protocol up, then they'll have a good fanbase of their own.

Yeah, that's probably true. About Alpha Protocol, that game being good would be good enough on it's own, but if it can get Obsidian out of Bioware's shadow, all the better.

The best sequel ever title goes to Half- life 2, but Assian's Creed II is the next runner-up

the worst is Super Mario Bros 2 way back in the NES years. That game was horrible!
