Best/Worst Sequels

To basically repeat what's already been said. HL2 and Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory were both amazing sequels. Tony Hawk's 2 was brilliant.

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 however was probably one of the worst ever. As well as all the new Smackdown VS Raw games.

Except that one isn't about better or worse sequels, but about which games should have more sequels or shouldn't. This thread is asking about existing ones, not ones we would/wouldn't like.

Very true, it seems my hate for over-done threads took over. But I was trying to point out to forum new-comers that threads about sequels may be popular but try not to make one.

Bad sequel Soul Caliber 3 and 4 they just don't hold up to #2

I'll agree with you on Fable 2. However, to ninja just about everyone, I'm also going to say KOTOR 2.

I'm sick of this. Half Life 2 is NOT better than Half Life. IT DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE!!! GYAAAAAAGH!!!!

It was a quasi-sequel to a famed RPG that a) didn't have any RPG elements and b) featured a character that was in no way sympathetic.

Assassin's Creed 2 is shaping up to be a great deal better than the original so far.

Uncharted 2 is pretty good so far as well.

AC2 being one of the best, and I agree, KOTOR 2 was a real downgrade from the original.

Just Cause 2 looks like a fantastic sequel, and terminator 2 was just, GREAT. MW2 isn't really a sequel, It's more Call of duty 4.5. Same gameplay, just more of it.

KOTOR 2 made me want to gouge my eyes out.

As for best sequel, I'll say that all the new Ratchet and Clank games are at the top.

Ratchet and Clank never really reached it peak until Going Commando, the second game in the series, followed by a thick stream of solid titles. (excluding deadlocked/gladiator if you're in Europe.)

Best: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. One of the best games ever made. which brings me to; Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, which is of course the worst sequel ever made.

It's kind of funny to have these two oposites in the same series.

Best sequel goes to System Shock 2, it took all the good parts from the original, enhanced them then to top it off it added more stuff that still blended in perfectly.

Worst sequel: Well, if spiritual sequels count, the it would be Bioshock. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but when compared with System Shocks, it just feels empty. If you don't want to count spiritual sequels, then It's a tough choice choosing between: Penumbra:Requiem, Monkey Island 4, HL2EP1, Dawn of War 2 and Modern Warfare 2, but I guess I'll go with Fallout 3 (Once again, not a bad game, but pales in comparison to the originals).
