I actually want to kind of say "Boo" just because I prefer my Elder Scroll solo. Solo = I can mod the hell out of it. Mod the hell out of it = extra hours of happy fun time. Also, I don't really desire to pay to play a game, after buying it. Specially cause ya know, SWTOR will destroy all life, that is after Cataclysm destroys the universe.

I hate the idea.

Oblivion with multiplayer would be awesome (Yeah, I know there are mods for that, I'm just too lazy to get them), but only with about 2-8 players. After that, it would be less epic, immersive and more spammy and other stuff that MMO's have.

What's with this new MMO trend? Do developers honestly believe they can grab a slice of the cake Blizzard has been guarding for so long? It'll probably end up like Warhammer with 30k subscribers remaining after the initial launch.

I like the idea that other people online would ruin my Elder scrolls experience by acting like total idiots all the time. And I have to pay for it too! :D

On a more analytic (is that a word?) approach: Someone here said that it would most likely drown in an already endless sea of fantasy MMO's, and even more so, fantasy MMO WoW clones!

So unless they make the world some way unique, like in Morrowind (well I thought it was a little more exotic than the average) it's just gonna flatten out as another crappy WoW-clone.
Also, mind you that Oblivion wasn't a step in the right direction with it's ultra generalized, boring medieval fantasy world.

I'll post this related link too! http://screenshots.filesnetwork.com/95/potd/1134695493_73.jpg

That's just my personal opinion, signing out.

This is a terrible idea!

1)It won't be able to compete with WoW
2)It will ruin the whole 'Elder Scolls' feel
3)It will be impossible to feel like the 'chosen one' with a million people around
4)It will piss off MMORPG haters, depriving Bethesda with a huge chunk of their market
5)People wh owant to play it on the Xbox will need live (which I don't have)

What was wrong with 'private' RPGs?

I will not get it if it has a subscription fee. If they just want me to buy the disc and play like Guild Wars I will.

edit-

I've always wanted an option for multiplayer in Elder Scrolls games- it would be really fun to raid some of the guard towers or ayelid ruins with a few friends. However, an all MMO elder scrolls game isn't gonna work out very well.

I am not suprised Bethesda has buckled under the combined pressures of the fanbase, who have been screaming for a multiplayer elder scrolls since morrowwind.

Dear Bethesda,

WHY FOR NOT IS OBLIVION MULTIPLAYER? IT WOULD BE SO LEET TO LIKE JUMP WIF MUH FRIENDS AND HUMP DEAD HOOKZORZ ON TEH TEMPEL DOORSTEP. HAS U CONSIDDERD MAKEN IT FER LIKE MMORPG N SHIT LIKE WOW BEKUZ THAT WUD BE TITE.

Yours truly,
The Noisy Fanbase
Won't be buying, won't be playing. I enjoyed organizing skulls in oblivion, thank you very much, I have no interest in running dungeons wow style with a bunch of 14 year old fuckwads.

Right idea wrong time. Bethesda has left this one until too late. I think with WOW hitting stabilization mark what you are going to see is a general slacking off of fantasy based MMOs for a while. The issue is that WOW mined that field successfully and for a long time and Everquest did it well before them. People want to play something different. More MMO options are coming to the forefront every day and the next big one to hit is probably not going to be a fantasy one. I keep having long term WOW players stop playing asking for whats next.

What? They've got to be kidding me... Does it occur to any developer nowadays that maybe, just maybe, not every RPG fan WANTS to play with other people? By that, I mean having other people completely destroy their game experience. And if you try to play an MMO and ignore everyone, all you have is an immensely flawed and boring game.

I really enjoyed Morrowind and Oblivion partly because I could explore the world in solitude and just wander off into the unknown, leaving everything behind and uncovering every little secret. Is this actually going to be possible in an MMO? I highly doubt it.

Oh well, at least those two games last for a tremendous amount of time and surprisingly don't get old, so I can go by without another one...

ARGH. That'll mean that my favorite part of Oblivion, the everything levels with you part, will be gone...

No, I'm not happy with this. My PC is a flimsy laptop and can't run anything above Morrowind. So that means I'll be excluded from an entire chapter of the Elder Scrolls.

Fuck that.

As long as it's more about fun, less then grinding the same thing forever to keep the players playing.
Could be fun going in caves, raiding villages e.t.c., as long as it does not try to become some kind of an WOW killer.

I'm not sure what to feel about this. I liked the single player RPG where you were the lone hero running around in a vast open world killing baddies and collecting random goodies. hmmmmm, Well i don't see this as a bad move. Maybe something good can come out of this that will blow my mind. Maybe if Bethesda can take their time on this game and wait till WoW loses its edge then they should make the final push to polish it up and send it out. No need for them to hurry, they can take their time. look what happened to all the other recent MMO's they didn't last very long as far as being a challenge to WoW.

btw I do play WoW
