Atheism is as much a religion as bald is a hair colour
That's my opinion on the matter anyway.

As for Bibleman, sorry, I watched the first one and just...too corny. The ending? Urgh. That's just terrible. Seriously.
I think it'd be a more proper analogy to say Atheism is as much a religion as bald is a hair STYLE.
The person has no hair (no belief), but I think it would still make sense to classify "bald" as a hairstyle.

Atheism is the lack of belief.
Atheist don't believe that there isn't a god, we know that it doesn't exist. We deal with facts.

ahhh... I heard of this on "You Have Been Watching". Charlie Brooker said something which had my giggling.

"Bibleman, Defeated by only one thing; Logic."

or something like that. either way I laughed and it gave me copious amounts of unwarranted self importance.

it's racist... if i made a show saying other religions are wrong and shoving fossil's down people's throat's, i would be considered satan.

people think it's alright to beleive in an impossible being that created the world, yet has no proof of existance but i believe in the aliens and im the crazy one...

E.T has more chance of being real than The Passion of Christ but people still think that the holy spirit exist's.

p.s i am not racist. i don't hate religion i just find them annoying as all hell.
well change the word racist with what ever it means to be offensive to religion's.

umm, I was unaware that racism involved religion at all. I didn't watch the clip, but are there black people being persecuted?

Great, just great. Real freakin' perfect.
The moment people see these videos, they're gonna think "HAHAHAHA this is why all Christians are morons."
After a quick skim of this thread, apparently a few people already have.

It's a children's TV show! It doesn't in any way represent the whole of Christianity!

Bibleman, the Christian superhero. That's not satire. And that wasn't sarcasm. And neither was this. Or this. Or... oh just forget it.

This show isn't even worth trying to talk about. It satires itself. It's that bad.

But for the last time, Atheism is not a religion. It's in fact, the opposite.
Atheism is a belief system and is therefore a religion.
I am sad to say it, but I must completely disagree with this statement.

A belief system is not a religion. Secular philosophies (such as existentialism, communism, consequentialism, and relativism) count as belief systems. Atheism, though it only has a belief regarding the non-existence of a supreme being or beings, counts as such a philosophy because it is precisely that: a secular belief system.

To simplify:

Belief systems = secular/religious,
atheism = secular,
secular =/= religious,
therefore religion =/= atheism.

Oh yeah, this is old, I remember seeing it when I was little! It was so clever and subtle just like power rangers. But better than this was the live action performances they did on stage. Now THAT! That was something they should do more of nowadays.
Speaking of which, that is a really good idea. Video Games could really easily be adapted into hour and a half long play productions with all the fun small pyrotechnics and highly inexpensive backdrops and settings at a FRACTION of the price of a full movie. Hmmmm... I like this.

Much more plausible and less of a waste of everyone's time than all the game-to-movie rumors that come out every month.

Despite occasional confusion, secularism is not necessarily synonymous with atheism nor agnosticism, it is instead the belief that religion and authority should be separate
The Secular Clergy is still infact religious.
Restating something enough times does not make it true.
There's also a strawman in there, as the last line would be atheism =/= religion, if you're following standard conventions.

Then I failed to put my point across, because you're not responding to my actual point. I blame my bad attempt at simplifying the argument into math, my apologies.

Secular means "separate from religion" in political and governmental terms. In the sense I was using it, "secular" was a synonym for "non-religious". You don't call relativists religious, do you? Of course you don't, they can be either religious or non-religious and still be relativists. The same is true for atheism, in the sense that it is non-religious and yet there is a belief intrinsic to the word.

Restating something? I was making a specific, new refute of your argument that "atheism is a belief system and therefore a religion", which is poppycock. Atheism is a philosophy and a disbelief. A "belief system", as the phrase is used by sociologists, psychologists, and any other academic, does not have to be a religion.

And to add a fresh point, so that this isn't just me trying to explain something: religions, by stricter definitions, have to be recognised by legislation and tax-exemption, or are otherwise technically called cults. Atheism is not recognised as a religion in any official manner, and therefore is not one (you can call it a cult if you really want to). The identification of all or almost all atheists adds to such a consensus.

By the way, I hope you haven't written me off as an atheist, particularly in light of the "restating" point you make. I'm just arguing the point because I see it as silly to call something religious when none of its (non-)believers agree to the idea. In fact, for the record, I am an agnostic. Which, by the way, is also not a religion, for the exact same reasons atheism isn't.

This isn't actually a contest, and I'm not saying you can't be an atheist. Just that

But it maybe.

'religions' by stricter definitions are 'Religions'. That's the point. You can be religious about shopping at Tesco's (and a number of people are) but you can't, as of yet, be Religious.
I'm just arguing the point because I see it as silly to call something religious when none of its (non-)believers agree to the idea.
Few Christians believe God doesn't exist, surprisingly.
In fact, for the record, I am an agnostic.
So am I, the difference being that agnostics do not have the strong set of beliefs that make something a religion, which keeps agnosticism away from a religion.

If you strongly believed that there was no way of knowing whether there was a God, then you might be a religious agnostic.

That's the keyword, belief. If you passionately care about God not existing, and are prepared to argue against people who believe it does, you are following atheism as a religion.

If you just don't care, you're agnostic. If you have decided it doesn't exist and have removed it from your thoughts, THEN you're a secular atheist. Often known as Buddhists.

theres a big difference between religious crazy and normal crazy,

you dont think that a power rangers style christian superhero with boots of truth is a bit messed up?

the little kids dancing is quite funny though

You completely missed my point. Not all christians made this insane show. Not all christians even agree with 1/4 of what this show idealizes.

Secondly, the show wasn't made with jaded, cynical young adults as the target audience. I think most of the "newer" cartoons are absolutely bonkers. I can't stand most of the crap out there that my kids watch right now, but am I going to say that all cartoonists are crazy? No, because there's still some good cartoons out there. I'll instead say "those cartoonists are nuts."

My point was: [HEADING=3]Don't generalize[/HEADING]
