Well, Midna was a total ***** at first.
I always hated the council from Mass Effect
Dimitri from GTA IV would have to top my list, but only if you chose the same ending as me.

Sephiroth, in FF7 and Dissidia.

Dissidia in particular, because he constantly claims that he's in control of Cloud, just because Cloud fought him. Kefka's much more evil, by miles, but Sephiroth takes the Golden Douchebag Award...

If anyone from that game were to take home the douchebag award it has to be Emporer Mateus. That son of a ***** manipulated EVERYONE in that game.

Fucking Clyde in Army of Two. That guy is a fucking asshole through the entire game. It wasn't even a fun fight when you do get to kill him. I fucking hate that guy.

Shepherd was def. a dick from MW2.

Chaos from Disiddia Final Fantasy also gets on my nerves BIG TIME, usually in Inward Chaos.

Saren from Mass Effect also grinds my gears.

Wesker (he is a cool bastard though.) As well as Goldman, Curien and Papa Caesar from The House of the Dead series, on the basis that they seemed to just release a horde of mutants for the shiggles (well, Curien had his reasons, but they don't really justify realeasing mutants and killing all the poor researchers).

Agreed on Wesker.

"Oh what's that? I orchestrated everything that has happened all over the world for the past 4 or so years?"

The bastard suits who run the companies and are steering each and everyone of them towards games a toddler can beat.

Left 4 Dead is a 6 hour game? Modern Warfare and MW2 are 6 hour games? Prince of Persia now consists of entirely separate fight and acrobatics sequences, the former consisting of single-button timed attacks, and you've lost the ability to die?

These are the people you should be able to destroy at the end of your quest.

Also, all of the characters from the Final Fantasy games.
Not that I disagree with you, but left 4 dead is intentionally short as it is a co-op game meant to be repeatedly played with friends. If it was longer than 6 hours it wouldn't make sense.
It would make perfect sense to me, as it has to the developers of any game of DECENT length that included full campaign for coop.

But you miss the point, the emphasis was placed on replayability rather than long campaigns, the effort went into the director system creating a different experience each time. Not on the same cut and paste campaign each time. It's effectively playing a different campaign each time.
