Ok escapists. I'm going to have to ask you to go back. Back to a time when you were a bright eyed kid with his/her whole life ahead of you. Now I want you to remember a particular theme. A song from a TV show, commercial maybe, movie. A song that when you hear it you are instantly transported back to a time when life was simpler and more fun and exciting. While I have a few myself I think the first theme that was subtly tuned into my brain that brings back memories of me as a small child would have to be the theme from Superfriends.

Good god does this drop a nostalgia bomb of epic proportions on me. I don't remember much of the episodes sadly. I do remember watching it quite a bit when I was younger. This was how I was introduced to The World's Greatest Heroes. I do remember one particular episode for some reason. One where The Legion of Doom had grown to giant size somehow and then managed to freeze the League and toss them into the ocean via Toy Man's sling shot. I could be remembering that wrong but I want to say that happened. I don't know why that one sticks out I just know it does for some reason.

For me it was the soundtrack of this game, 102 Dalmatians Puppies to the Rescue, I remember spending hours playing this game when I was a little child, the music for some reason was stuck with me

and this part from the soundtrack of Romeo+Juliet, I watched this film many years ago and this song fascinated me, it was this song that got me into this type of music, and in the early 00s Evanescence used this sample in one of their versions of "Whisper", I was listening to this band a lot in school so it helped to remind me of Romeo+Juliet

While after season one I pretty much stopped watching the anime, that theme song makes my soul soar. *starts singing along*

And I'm not even that old xP! I've seen a few shows in my childhood, all dubbed -gasp-, but the one that stands out for me is this one. It came to mind first and just hearing the first few seconds was enough to take me back to my time in Korea where I'd re-watch the show over and over again on VHS tapes.

This theme tune is what I woke up to on most Saturday mornings.

Brings back nostalgia seeing the old TV and remote :)

There could only be one answer:

Still makes me tear up a bit, it's just so beautiful and full of the innocence of my childhood. The Chronicles of Narnia were probably the first books to really capture my imagination, and they're almost certainly the reason I'm the fantasy/sci fi geek I am today.

The TV serial was originally aired a few years before my time (1988-1990), but my parents had the VHS tapes and my sister and I watched them all the time.

Not from a TV show, a commercial, nor a movie, but from a disk that came with a rather shiny miniature mask. I don't easily recall themes from childhood movies or TV shows, but I certainly recall this:

I have only one answer to this question.

Note that this is the version I grew up with, being German and all; the word 'ninja' used to be banned in children's programming back then, which is why the show was named TMHT rather than TMNT over here.
Anyway, comparing the intros of the original and the German dub, the dub wins. Easily. The music is tweaked towards hardrock, and Frank Zander's voice is a thousand times cooler than that weird squeaky singing in the American intro.

I mean, I still have the (superior) comics, but I'd like to have this series on dvd in English or something.

Hard to say really. I mean these are the contenders when it come to my childhood theme song-

Ah this only made me missed the 80's cattoon intro, back in the day the intro were about a minute long and have a proper lyric to it too!

Well, besides basically EVERY early Cartoon Network show/commercial/music video... (and Tupac or B.I.G...)

I would watch the shit out of this on Toonami alongside my Grandmother... (Still fucking happy to have this on Blu-Ray/DVD...)

Oh... and also this:
...Still had no idea there's a UK version of this show... (I'm assuming that came first just like with Idol and The Office...)

Everything else I would have said would have been as nostalgic to my childhood as this:
(...and I fucking love this song...)

I think this will be one of those themes that our generation will never let die. Nor should it ever die! All hail one of the greatest childhood anthems!
