Ok, then a REAL disappointment will probably be Bioshock 2. I really enjoyed the first one (Wouldn't say loved, but it was certainly good) and sequels have this uncanny knack for sucking more then the original (Save Call of Duty 2).
And God Of War 2. And Half Life 2. And Gran Turismo 2, GTA Vice City, Hitman: Silent Assassin, Sly 2.....
Can't you just leave me alone for a minute?

FINE, of those that I've played (Haven't played God of War 1 or 2, Sly 2, or Gran Turismo 2...never owned a Playstation), they are good.
But I think you know what I'm getting at!
The longer running the series (Even at only one sequel), the greater the chance for sucking.

Sure, but its still never a certainty.
Of course it isn't! Hence 'chance' for sucking!
It seems we're debating while holding the same view.

Lord of the Rings: Conquest.

Anyone who has ever played Demonstone will know exactly what I am talking about. Avoid this game no matter what the damn reviewers say.

Alan Wake, after reading the wikipedia article on the plot it looks like a major Silent Hill 2 rip off.
Isn't that a good thing because Silent Hill isn't Silent Hill anymore.

Alan Wake = Reason to get a 360?

Hoping for a port.

This. Everything about it looks generic. I can't see what all the anticipation is.

Also, how could a game like Brutal Legend possibly live up to the amount of hype?

Spore came out last year which was 2008, not 2009.

I am going to say Halo Wars because console + RTS = bad. Though I guess it can work with SOME games. From the day of the release of Halo Wars, everybody shall preach that Halo Wars invented RTS.

No, its a reason for upgrading your PC. Why would you get it on the machine that gets sloppy seconds?
Do you reckon it will be Mac compatible?

Well in order for a game to be a disappointment I'd need to have high hopes for it, but to have high hopes I'd have to think it's going to be good.

So basically I have no clue what may in the future disappoint me. But it definitely won?t be that 50 cent game, unless it turns out good in which case I may be disappointed that I wasn?t disappointed.

Saints Row 2 for the PC

The port is actually worse than GTA IV for PC

GamingHeavens [http://www.gamingheaven.net/gamingreviews.php?reviewid=686] Review of the game:

"I have a Quad Core Intel CPU running at 3ghz with 2 GB of ram and even on my 9800 GTX the game struggles to maintain a good frame rate at a high resolution (1920). I was getting performance around the 15-20 fps mark which I don't think is particularly acceptable in 2009 for such a decent gaming PC. Clearly developers recently feel we should all be running Skulltrail with 3 280 GTXs in SLI to get acceptable performance from our console ports!..."

"...the PC version is just a disaster due to glaring coding issues throughout. The performance is so bad that at times I was virtually experiencing a slideshow and even when I lowered the resolution to around 720p, the game would still hitch and shudder through various locations..."

"Graphically, the game is a disaster. Sure they look nice on still frames, but the whole experience is a rushed and half assed effort which results in a half assed game..."

"Moving the overall game quality settings to high helps improve texture details, but the game runs so bad it would be hard to find anyone with enough money to make the game run well at high resolutions with all the eye candy maxed..."

"PC owners beware, poor coding has made this fun console game virtually unplayable..."

that'll be the next Halo then, so either Halo Wars or Halo Recon?

or maybe gears of halo, cooking halo, alone in the halo, super halo brothers, halo pinata 3 or WarHalo online.

C'mon the Halo series is a Microsoft staple, you know darn well it'll be out on the PC sooner or later.

Biggest disappointment of '09 would probably be FF13. The series has been slowly dying since it went 3d with 7 (a good game) and 12 was just piss easy. Bring back the challenge of the SNES games.

starcraft 2 just wont live up to its predicessor
What is concerning to me as a former StarCraft enthusiast is that Starcraft 2 will be actually split up into 3 games [http://pc.ign.com/articles/918/918895p1.html], and all of them will have full MSRB price probably - if not even more just because Blizzard CAN charge $50 or $60 for each game. (You heard it here first at The Escapist)

Not only do you need to buy 3 games to have access to all races, you also need to pay actual money to play the game online not much unlike Xbox Live.

Living up to its predecessor or not - the marketing revolving Starcraft II is just vomit inducing for PC gamers. I mean it's one thing that we're getting litterally fucked over by the console industry with crappy ports followed by another crappy port followed by a terrible port. It's another thing when something we are used to being free for the past 30 years is now being charged money for.
Oh wait, I forgot, MicroSoft already started with Games for Windows Live almost 2 years ago charging people to play games online.

Ugh... This is making me sick

Whatever game my friend, who I shall call 'A', claims will be the greatest game of the year. Seriously, this guy is like the touch of death to videogames. I swear the decline of Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Halo, Fable and many others is down to him taking an interest in the series.

Killzone 2?
i agree killzone was massively over hyped and it ended been just another fail fps in the long run, i am hoping that it will have improved massivly with the second one.

I admit to never liking Killzone the first time around; many elements of the control system were royally fucked up. Sniping was one of them; you need four arms and six fingers per hand to use the bastard Sniper Rifle!

However, the Multiplayer mode was VERY fun, and these days that's all that seems to matter. For this simple reason alone, Killzone 2 WILL be the best FP2 ever; no matter how shit it's single-player mode may be, it'll have a Multiplayer mode that is "Halo 3 but better", and thus it shall be the first game in history to be given one-hundred-and-eight-squidgillion our of One Hundred.

Sarcasm may be present in the above.

The next Lego game. Not implying that the majority of us expect it to be good, but for those who do this will be the biggest disappointment of their lives.

Also I have a feeling Fallout 4 might not make the cut. It'll be like pokemon; it's better in almost every way, but it's somehow no longer as fun.
