This can range from anything.
Whether it was a horrible boss fight, gameplay, story, MP experience.

For me...it's Gears 2. I mean really? The first Gears was so freakin' awesome. MP was a little hard for me to get into at first. But I loved the game. Then I see the Gears 2 footage and I get all excited. I pre-ordered the limited special edition and went to the midnight release. Then I start playing it and the dissapointment starts. All the boss fights were terrible, story wasn't as great as the first one. Epic Games should have left the Locust as some unknown threat rather than hinting that they might have once been failed human test subjects. And don't even get me started on Multiplayer, shotguns were ruined, Chainsaws were unbalanced.
The MP experience as a whole was just a let down. And this experience has taught me to wait for games to come out and see how they do, rather than just thinking that at the very least a sequel will be as good as the first.

Half Life 2. Including all of the episodes.
The first one was pretty good, but after all the praise it got I was expecting it to be great.
It was average at best.

Hype. Every game gets hyped up so much that I just HAVE to buy it and then...let down. See: Just Cause 2, Crackdown 2, Far Cry 2- notice how these are all sequels?

Sequels seem to be overlooked when it comes to getting hyped up. At the very worst thought about Gears 2 before it came was that it would be the exact same as Gears 1, I wouldn't have guessed that the developers would have let the game ship with those problems or that they game director thought those boss fights were sufficient

KotOR II for me. I was so hyped about it because the first one was and is my favorite game ever, and then that mess came out and claimed to be its successor.

The first post wasn't Too Human? I am surprised.

Anyway, yeah, Too Human. I mean the concept was, an RPG about Norse Mythology set in the future, with a combat system like devil may cry. How the hell do you fuck that up?!
Yeah I never played that game. Demo didn't interest me.
So I didn't bother with it. But I agree with you. They really had to set their minds on failing at making that game

All the Spyro games on the PS2, it had a well established design on the PSone, and that worked, well. Then the PS2 stuff comes along, and it just murders the franchise.

I was massively disapointed with GTA4. It recieved so much praise, 10/10/10/10 everywhere, going around screaming "GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR!"

Initially, yeah, it was aliright. But soon after I was insanely bored and never got around to finishing the game. It took way to long for the game to get going and the game was so realistic compared to it's predecessors, with the car physics really annoying to handle and Nico either flying 50 feet out of the car at 5mph (though that was hilarious) or stumbling aroud like he's drunk when he was slightly hit by a car, that it was just boring after a while. The weapons were dull, no fun weapons like the dildo or katana, all of them were just upgrades of another one and that's it. There weren't any fun cheats to use, hell there wasn't even an "invincible" cheat or "no wanted level ever" cheat.

On top of that, the story that everyone was saying "It's up to 'The Godfather' level in storytelling!", I stopped giving a crap about it relatively quickly. Nico was a friggin' schizophrenic psyco, one minute agreeing to be the hitman of a mob boss and the next yelling at his gay friend (I forgot his name) that he's trying to be incognito, when he was asked if he wanted to go boating.

Overall, I was hugely disapointed with the game. And the huge-ass install for the Ps3 version didn't help either.

Seriously it's the same threads lately,I feel like I'm in some sort of a loop here on this section of the forum.I guess there are not many things to talk about games, from now on I'll stay out of here.

Am i really the first one to say MW2? Hmm... oh well. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the game but it was just so hyped up. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing someone praise the game or see someone honoring the game with a blood sacrifice. I enjoyed MW and Halo 3 far better than that game.

Never really had one. Do I win something in this case?
No, stop being contrary. This is a video game forum, become bitter and cynical before you start making everyone else optimistic.

Anyway, Devil May Cry 2. The sequel to one of the best loved ps2 action games, what the hell happened? No story, combat reduced to 2 combos, every boss is mind numbingly easy, NO story, crap villain, SILENT DANTE. It's like they looked at everything they did in DMC1 and said, "How can we do it wrong?"

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Mirrors Edge.
It starts off so well =( running around on rooftops pretty environment, flowing free running which mixed well with the tiny bits of combat and especially the sense of speed and vertigo... THEN! BAM... Corridor after corridor with lots of dull combat... Sigh....

Resistance 2. The first game had a very outer limits aliens invading feel to it but at the same time felt very world war 2ish. A lot of stages had a D-day feel and others had believable city areas and countryside with pauses breaking up the games combat as you explore the aliens bases. The chimera were a bit mysterious. It wasn't the best game ever but I found it very atmospheric. The second game was the complete opposite. everything was high-tec and you were part of some elite squad instead of just another soldier trying to survive. There was little to remind you it was suppose to take place in the 50's and from what I remember it really felt like year 2020 or something. The entire atmosphere created by the first game was gone. To make it worse time fastforwards a few times to destroy your sense of whats going on and leaves you feeling disconnected. The gameplay itself was also a lot more generic but I won't go into that because I'm sure everyone knows by now how Insomniac messed that up. Basically Resistance was a series with potential that was crushed by the second game. No one really wants a third game now.
