Persona 4 Neutral Ending
That's it? We just give up?
Do you mean the one where
you don't kill Namatame, and that's it?
Because if so, I think it worked perfectly. It was dull, depressing, left questions unanswered, and it seems like it should have been that way. You fail to solve the final mystery, as far as the game is concerned, you deserve no better.
When I found out there were more endings I went straight back, just to discover the truth and leave on a happier note. It was a good hook, made you feel like something was unfinished without specifically saying "it's unfinished". Just progressing towards the True ending right now, actually.
Edit: I guess I should say something. Uhh, Mafia 2 I guess. Just seemed out of place.

That conversation is poorly designed. You have to choose the exact response all six times or you can't continue. That combined with just giving up pissed me off. I then did a new game+ and got the True. Much more satisfying.

True, that conversation was a bit odd. But I found the ending itself fine.

Indigo Prophecy, the entire second half of the game.
Ancient mystical cult crap, child of destiny, Purple Clan, AI's, oh and Lucas is banging Carla because........Rule of Sexy?
The wheels kind of came off at the end there.

Also anything that ends in a cliff hanger. The most recent example for me would be Dragon Age 2.

There's too many to mention, but here's a really recent one: LA Noire.

Lamest ending ever.
I'm glad someone else mentioned this...

This thread is about the biggest letdown, and although the end of LA Noire isn't the worst, it really is a letdown compared to the rest of the incredible game.
Granted yes it is in a noire style (be silly if it wasn't xD) but still it could've been much better. Still an excellent game!

At least they somewhat fixed Fallout 3 with Broken Steel DLC.

I'd say the biggest letdowns for me were Halo 2 and Crysis. Fucking cliffhangers.

I haven't bought either sequel from those taffers.
I wouldn't have excused the Crysis cliffhanger, weak as it was, if the sequel followed up on it.

I just love that you used "taffers" :D

Halo 2 for sure.

"Master Chief. You mind telling me what you're doing aboard that ship?"

"Sir, I'm finishing this fight."

THE END

me:"...Where the hell is the rest of the game?!! Is my CD broken?"
It was originally suppose to end at the second Halo, but Microsoft said other wise. Que the cliffhanger ending, though I am pretty sure everyone knows this already.
Ah. That makes sense. Sorry. I got into Halo pretty late...like last year or so. :p

Gears Of War 2. I didn't even play it. I watched my brother finish it. You aim at some beast thing and then the game ends. WTF?!

Fallout New Vegas

Fallout New Vegas - you don't even get to play after it ends. I wanted to take over the world with my army of robots!
The worst part about it is that they did the same thing in Fallout 3 (though I'll admit every Fallout does this), and so people complained so much that they created the Broken Steel DLC to recon it. You would think that they would have learned their lesson, but actually I think that they did it deliberately this time, just so people will gobble up the DLC they release to "fix" it, when it should have never been this way in New Vegas or any Fallout game for that matter.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.

The girl goes halfway across the world(s) to try and find someone just to give up and get sent back home. And if that's not enough, a woman who's likely to be her mother drugs her into a coma. The second main character gets stabbed and falls into a lake (we don't find out if she's alive), and the third one doesn't even get a proper mention in the ending.
Ninja-ed. If we'd immediately have gotten Dreamfall Chapters as well, I wouldn't have been so outraged, but considering Dreamfall came out 6 years after TLJ and it's already been 5 years since it came out at all, I'm not expecting any closure anytime soon.

Which is a shame, because I find the universe and the story as well very, VERY intriguing and interesting.

Nobody remembers XIII? It goes along the lines of "Hey I just stopped the bad guys from taking over the U.S. by declaring martial law under false pretenses as well as prove I didn't kill the president, and oh hey brother of the president and soon to be elected as prez himself...why do you have a gun pointed at me? Oh no YOUR the big bad?" And then SOPRANOS ENDING! Tha hell!

I've got to agree on Fallout 3. I just don't like the whole "heroic sacrifice" thing in general, but when you couple in the number of ways I could have gotten around having to kill either myself or Lyons, then that goes way beyond horseshit and into a realm where there are simply not enough expletives to describe the level of stupidity present in that ending. I feel Dead Space 2 should also get a mention here, despite the fact that I actually thought that ending was pretty amazing. If ever a game could be classified as a "troll," it's Dead Space 2, precisely because of that ending. Just as I started to think that the game had truly let me down and that, after all his struggles, Isaac was actually going to die... Fucking Ellie finally decides to swoop in to the rescue. If Visceral ever scares me like that again, you can bet I'm going to be taking a trip to their headquarters to do some punching.

Ok, fighting games always had crappy endings, but "oh, it was all a dream" followed by "hey honey, I made some curry" was really retarded.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening on the Game Boy. I hate in general when a game or TV show does the whole "it was all a dream" crap but it took me forever to finish this game because first one got stolen. Then when I finally did it was like a slap in the face AND a giant fuck you to find the whole game is really pointless.

What bugged me about the ending to that game was not the whole "it was all a dream" thing esp. since that was revealed before you even got to the end, no what bugged me was that after you 'wake up' you're just left to die stranded in the middle of the ocean.

My most irritating ending was Farcry 2.

It wasn't a bad game. It wasn't a great game. I just found the ending to be thoroughly unsatisfying.

Nothing was gained, learnt or lost. Just me on a mountain blowing myself up with dynamite. Or shooting myself in the head.

Some fun was had, but overall it was just slog.
