I didn't think Scott Pilgrim was very good. I also very much enjoyed the film Bob was so quick to blame for his Yaoi-esqu obssession's flop, The Expendables. It was a stupid action movie, but it was a fun stupid action movie in the same vein as Commando.

Also i'm getting hit with a captcha every 3-5 posts. It's rather annoying.
Can I ask why you didn't like Scott Pilgrim? (not trying to cause a debate I a legitimately curious)
I didn't like any of the characters. Scott annoyed me with his doucheyness, Ramona's aloof routine and voice bored me, and the only other character I really remembered was Knives, and she was just weird to me.

I didn't like the muic, like at all. Just not my thing I guess.

Because I didn't care about the characters I didn't really get into the story. I also really dislike Michael Cera as an actor, his voice is kind of like nails on a chalk board to me.

I did't think the action was anything special, if it'd been amazing like some people said then I could forgive some of the other issues. As is it was kind of meh.

When NoobToob said you shouldn't buy Nier. Tied for game of the year 2010 with Deadly Premonition, as far as I'm concerned.
NoobToob are the best game reviewers in the business, as far as I'm concerned. I haven't played Nier though.
Within seconds of visiting their website and checking out the Brink review, I noticed they say at the beginning that Bethesda developed Brink. It wouldn't surprise me if they think NCSoft is developing Guild Wars 2. It's a rather big fail if you mess up something as easy as distinguishing the developer and publisher. I won't completely ignore their website, but they certainly haven't made a good first impression for me.
Arghhhhhh! The lack of informed opinion is baffling!

That review on the main site was posted by a community member. That's like criticising the Escapist over a review I have written on the website. NoobToob has not reviewed Brink yet buddy.

This is NoobToob's channel:

Fair enough, and thank you for giving a real answer and not raging at me

Roger Ebert opinion on games as art. I think he's flat out wrong and I'd pay good money to explain to him why he's wrong.

I've had a few of these moments with Moviebob...

Hot Tub Time Machine: Bob said it was really funny. I thought it was really shit. Didn't find it entertaining at all and turned the movie off after about 40 minutes of silent viewing.

The Book of Eli: Bob attacked it because it was about a bible. I thought it was a pretty decent movie. If the movie had been about a guy with a treasure map Bob probably would have loved it.

Wanted: This movie even failed to impress me as a balls-to-the-wall action title based solely on its "fuckin' A" moments. Bob liked it... I don't understand why.

The Love Guru: He gave it a bad review, but said there were at least some really funny moments in it. You were wrong sir. It had NO redeeming moments in it.

There's more of these sort of differences in opinion, but I still watch his show every week because we tend to agree more than disagree.

Apart from his fixation on Amanda Seyfried, which I just don't understand because to me she looks like an alien creature imitating a hot chick... its the eyes I think... they're a little too far apart...

I completely disagree with <url=http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100414/REVIEWS/100419986/1023>Roger Ebert's review of <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.253962-2-50-Reviews-Kick-Ass-2010>Kick-Ass.

That's the best example I can think of.
Ninja'd. Kick-Ass is one of my favorite movies ever, and usually I like Ebert.

Aside from that, I'm sure I could find dozens of examples if I wanted to stay up all night. Let's see, is there anyone in particular I tend to disagree with?

Yahtzee: "Sequels are bad."

Make a list of games that defined and refined genre conventions and game design techniques...basically, the most important games in gaming history. A large portion of them--probably the majority--would be sequels.
Ah, Yahtzee. There are very few ZP reviews I actually agree with, and his attitude towards sequels just seems misguided to me. For one, most game sequels I've played have been better than the original. Movie sequels tend to be inferior, but game sequels get to expand on their predecessors and fix what was broken. That, and if I really like a game then what's wrong with wanting more of the same? Do you know how often games would be released if each and every single one was required to be an original concept?

I suppose we'd all save money, at least.

I disagree with almost everyone's review of Nier.

At best, it got an 8.

That game is a near perfect 10 for me. No idea what people hate so much about it but they can all go to hell really.

I listen to Spill.com's audio reviews for movies, and I usually agree on a basic level or can just chalk it up to different opinions. At any rate they're hilarious and I love them. But their audio review for Sucker Punch wasn't just scathing of the movie and of the type of person that would like it (suffice to say "thirteen year old nerds" was one of their nicer sentiments) to the point where I didn't just disagree with the review, I was fucking pissed.

Seriously, it's one thing to give a film a poor review, but it's another to insult not only the film's audience, but yours as well.

I only see hate on that game from people who don't like JRPGs in the first place.

I love em, personally.

The two ones that come to mind:

MovieBob on District 9. I just didn't like it. It wasn't any one point in particular, it just didn't suite my fancy.

Yahtzee on Too Human. I really enjoyed it. I still play it with a buddy of mine online whenever I get the chance. Something invigorating about you and a friend alone (well...not alone, but the other guys are useless) against all the armies hellheim can throw against you.

The whole MovieBob Fast 5 debacle. I read comics, like marvel movies and play PnP rpgs but by gum because I like Fast and the Furious movies I'm suddenly a massive douche?

sigh, Stay classy Bob.

Also the Times (uk) review of Sucker Punch as they have this annoying habit of sending jaded middle aged people to watch movies aimed at 20 somethings.
Pretty much this, and also Moviebob's The Expendables review. It's one thing for a reviewer to dislike a movie (for whatever reason, justified or not), but it's another thing if you start calling people who do enjoy the movie idiots.

Also Yahtzee's Killzone 3 review. It was a damn fun game, they should stop looking so much into a game and actually enjoy it.

I guess since the other two have now replied, mine won't really help you, but still, has to be done.

I agree with the others, I'm really not a fan of Michael Cera.

The music wasn't my style, I really didn't like it.

I couldn't relate to any of the characters.

And scenes such as 'the vegan fight' annoyed me so much. It was just so over the top. I know it was trying to be, but that wasn't going to make me like it.

I was trying very hard to like it, and it just didn't do it for me.

I still disagree with how Yahtzee received the Halo franchise as a whole (particularly in his Halo 3 review). He boldfacedly admitted that he hadn't played the first two games and then complained about the story. For me, the best part about those games was the story. It managed to grab hold of me as I fought on to ensure the very survival of the species and indeed every species in the galaxy. He also complained that everything it did had been done before, but then it is worth remember that this is a sequel to a game the completely redefined a genre.

I suppose you are perfectly within your rights to complain how so many games have tried to ape it, but many people have tried to ape Yahtzee too, and while none of them has been as good as Yahtzee, I certainly don't blame Yahtzee for it.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 were absolutely necessary to the plot line of Halo: Combat Evolved. In Halo 2, they expanded on the concept by introducing the struggle within the Covenant that invoked an underlying perspective on racism. The Covenant's religion also neatly mirrored the conflict we find ourselves in in today's society wherein we are fighting people who have such devotion to their set of beliefs that they will kill themselves and all others around them to make their point.

I won't even try to hold up the multiplayer since I find myself in a similar position of not being able to effectively play multiplayer due to connection problems. For me it is just poor rural infrastructure and for Yahtzee it is because he lives on an isolated continent with the nearest English speaking country being across the world's largest ocean. I understand why he doesn't like multiplayer.

For what it's worth, when I did get a few friends in the room with a console, I found Halo 3's multiplayer ideal for an all-night Mountain Dew fuel jamboree. I loved the "zombie mod" and how the physics parameters of the game could be manipulated to turn what would otherwise be a boring game of tag into a crazy slaughterfest in which I had energy sword wielding zombies screaming towards me at 300% speed with the gravity for them turned way down, but with the inability to survive anything more serious than a spitball.

I got the idea that Yahtzee somewhat regretted his opinion of the Halo franchise around the time Reach came out and his criticisms seemed much more reasonable, but for me, this is still a black mark on his otherwise stellar record.
Speaking as a fellow Halo fan, I mean, enough of a fan to consider it my favourite series. Halo has a serious problem with making the series inaccessible to new players, both in gameplay and story.
Ok. Fair enough, but what if I had started watching the Return of the King or Return of the Jedi without any prior knowledge of what happened in the previous 2 movies? I would have absolutely no right to complain when I said that they story didn't make sense. You don't enter a building on the third floor (catwalks notwithstanding) and you don't entire an epic trilogy 3 movies in. I suppose I can understand that Yahtzee is busy and doesn't have time to play all of these games, but then perhaps he just wasn't prepared to review the game even as thousands of fans clamored to hear his opinion on it.

What I'm trying to say is that I hope in the time between his review of Halo 3 and now, he has found time to go back and play through the first two installments of the trilogy and tried to enjoy them on their own merits.

Also, I totally understand why he hated Halo Wars. I never played it, but I'm not a console or RTS person and the thought of combining the two baffles me.

I wouldn't rate it perfect, but it elicited an emotional response out of me that hardly any other game has replicated. The gameplay was a little boring for me, and it did veer on the easy side, but the story, characters, and soundtrack easily made up the difference.

Any time Moviebob opens his mouth about Halo, especially when he goes out of his way to pull a sinister subtext out of his ass so he has an excuse to dump even more shit on it. I stopped watching his newest series after that "Halo is fascist propaganda against multiculturalism" episode because it set an intolerably silly precedent.

i disagree with a lot of moviebob's reviews. sure some movies are kinda stupid like the expendables and fast five but i liked them for that in some way.
