After hearing about the story, I became intrigued. It seems the villain this time is the opposite of Ryan in both Ideology and gender, being a collectivist/altruistic views. Plus multi looks interesting.

So what do you think are the chances that the multiplayer will be good?
I saw a video of the multiplayer segment where one dude froze another dude and then a third dude ran through them shattering them.

Not sure why all the dudes, it just seemed to happen but that seems pretty damn cool and if I can continue to kill in unique and interesting ways throughout the multiplayer I'll be happy. That being said I'm turning up for the single player and if the multi is terrible I won't care that much; apart from my dreams living it out as a splicer will be squashed
You are a splicer in multi though, glimmer of hope there.
That's what I meant; if the Multi falls flat on its face my dreams die with it. I wonder what splicer powers we get to use. Some would work rather well like spider but I don't seem them doing houdini; fire balls maybe but no telelportation (although that'd be epic)
As far as i have understood you won't have any splicer abilities, just plasmids you gain from levels.
It'd be cool if you gain use of different splicers the higher level you are, like unlocking classes in KZ2.

It sure would be, and another awesome thing is that the higher level you are, the more plasmids you have, the more splicer-ish you look.

Maybe the plasmids thing will be like in the first game. The lower level you are, only lower level plasmids are available and you have to upgrade them by use (think perks and weapons in CoD4). And, the higher level (overall) you are, the more plasmid slots open up (up to 6).

I want more titties.

OT: I wasn't a huge fan of the first one, and I'm only getting this if it gets good reviews.

I was excited for Bioshock 2 when it was coming out in '09. Now that it got pushed I have other games I want like Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta and Army of Two.

From the way the trailer for it looks I think it will be some awesome good hectic fun, kind of like Unreal Tournament but with plasmids.

That's what I got from it at least.

We could always talk about how sorely inadaquate the "Special" Edition being here in Europe-land as well as other places is compared to the shiny Collectors Edition.

But hey, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised and it may get a release over here after all. One can but hope.

Anyway, regardless of how good the multiplayer may or may not be, it's not the reason I'll be buying Buishock 2, so I don't really mind if it goes and takes a running jump...:)

I hope they don't say, "Hey, we made a good game, now let's try to top it!" and it ends up being waaaaay too overdone. In my opinion, it is looking that way. They are making it creepier, letting you play as a big daddy, and letting you use plasmids while fighting. These could all be used for the greater good, I really hope they don;t loose the awesome feel of the first by blowing everything out of proportion.

I don't think it will be as good as the first game because it seems like the developers are missing the idea of why the first game was as great as it was. Of course I'm still going to buy it and I'm getting the Limited Edition but I'm not going to get my hopes up that it will be the greatest game ever made. I just really want to hear more of the story and it seems like a game that would be a shame to miss.

And apparently, the multiplayer follows the Civil War in Rapture.

Leveling up your charcter and gaining more plasmids to use deforms them into those cheery, completely sane people that wander Rapture by the time you visit of your own free will.

There isn't a singular Big Sister, there is a team of them, being used by Raptures new dictator, some sort of pshychologist, to maintain order, which is to say, keep the Splicers low, and herself high.

Though, there is a Big Sister, which probably means some sort of character development for it.

Apparently.

Here is a video. IF that doesn't work, here is a link:

It looks great.

The multiplayer sounds like a waste of time.
weird, why so?
It just seems unnecessary.

Its looks pretty bland. What you could do with the environment could have made it more interesting.

Realize that I don't play many online games because I dislike online multiplayer in general. So my reasons probably aren't all that convincing to you.

Its more like, why should I bother getting online if its really not that special.

Am I the only one who didn't like BioShock? I thought the gameplay was overly simplistic, even removing the inventory, and everything felt all clunky. Maybe thats just me.

I'm just wondering how they're going to make the plasmids work in multiplayer, they would be very cheap if they worked like they did in BioShock.

OP: I Must have it!! I was skeptical of a sequel at first, but from what I've seen in videos I can say that BioShock 2 will be as good, if not better, than it's predecessor.

I know what you mean. I was actually soo excited when I realised about three months prior to it's 09 release date that it was coming out.
But then it got pushed, and I've been sulking for the past three months.

i disagree, the bioshock environment is awesome.
No I'm not saying it doesn't. But what I saying is tat the way you interact with the environment could have been cooler. Such as electricity + water. It seems like that only have the bare minimum, and that was the only thing that made the multiplayer stick out a little. bit.
