What, are you kidding me? Sex scenes in non-pornographic videogames comprise marginal components of experiences that otherwise have nothing to do with the subject matter. The general tendency to complain about graphical and technical quality in games that already have too much money invested in visuals and effects is pretty pathetic already- the fact that Levine has the temerity to whine about something essentially irrelevant to the rest of the experience is utterly ludicrous. Surely, one can complain about sex being too readily and unrealistically initiated in many contexts (I suppose the standard example here is Liara from Mass Effect 1) given its potential significance in a relationship. However, I don't see why a simple "Fade to black" or a few suggestive movements/angles followed by such comprise unacceptable solutions to the problem of the actual depiction of sex. I don't play non-sexual video games for the purpose of incidentally attaining titillation, and hardcore/pornographic content would only be a pointless and irritating distraction (in the sense of focusing mind and body rather substantially on sex afterwards) from the normal flow of gameplay. How would you feel if the Godfather or Star Wars suddenly broke out into full-on pornography for ten minutes midway through the film?
I mean, it's not like more interactive and (sometimes) better-rendered sex does not exist. There are a vast number of pornographic games, most abundantly from Japan, that are dedicated to this very purpose. However, in their case more sophisticated depictions of sex are a fitting investment given that their principle focus is indeed to expedite masturbation rather than providing "higher" entertainment. Until Bioware/whomever begins to produce RPGs or whatnot with the principal purpose of using them as interactive pornography, I see no convincing argument as to why time and money should be wasted and audiences distracted and potentially irritated on unnecessarily in-depth representations of sexual activity.
