Oh boy! Bioshock: Air Edition! Hopefully they build Air Rapture with less holes than Water Rapture! I'm kind of curious of how much they're going to change in this alternate history they've set up. In the next game is it revealed that Walruses are now the dominant species?
Coocookachu!

I may not be the first to point this out, but everyone saying that it will be the same as the others is kind of stupid considering there is no gameplay.

I hope that it will bring new elements to the table while refining the old ones, but you would usually hope that for all quals.

From the depths of the sea to .........a flying city?

Is the Bioshock franchise really grasping at straws already?
So your willing to accept an underwater city, but a city in the clouds, now that's just too much?

Anyways, it looks good. I look forward to what they do with the unique setting and where the story goes. However I do have 2 concerns:

1 - That new Big Daddy has a human heart in him. I really hope they don't pull some BS where a older character like Andrew Ryan has been rebuilt as a big daddy that would just be lame.

2 - The synopsis on the site says the game will involve saving a little girl from the city and forming a bond with her....sounds a bit too much like Bioshock 2's story to me.

I look forward to this game and seeing more footage of it.
she isnt a little girl anymore. it said she was imprisoned since she was a little girl, she is fully grown now. Also she has telekenisis so thats new. (didnt play B2 but I assume the little girl didn't have telekenisis.)
Small Spoiler for bioshock 2
the little girl did have some forms of telekinetic powers.

The multiplayer of bioshock2 was for this. It was the new years and the insanity that followed.
I beg to differ. We did not actually see the city go to hell. Here's what I had in mind and posted in a different topic already:

What I'm proposing is Prototype-esque world progression. In the beginning Rapture would still be pristine, everything would be as glorious as advertised. But as time progresses, splicing becoming more and more commonplace and Atlas' organisation (and thus you) wrecking more and more havoc, you'd see the city descend into madness.

More and more people on the streets who'd splice themselves into oblivion, some of them making living weapons out of themselves, robbing and killing people, at one point there'd be rioting and an ever increasing presence of security forces until it all finally erupts into the big civil war that utterly destroys the city.

And then there's the rest; GTA-like mission structure, no more clear-cut "press this button for evil, press this button for good" choices (instead you'd do missions in an agressive manner, feeding on the bitter and disappointment of the character, or you do them the more subtle way, expanding on the character's sense of justice), more DIY (you'd play a rebel, they do those things), a city that's alive with people, etc etc.

I'm absolutely convinced it'd be fantastic.

The original Bioshock is my favourite shooter. Gripping story, terrifying atmosphere, Timeless characters and enjoyable combat. I utterly hated Bioshock 2 because it had no story to tell, the atmosphere was gone, the characters were inferior. I actually really like the look of this one. Interesting location. I'm quite scared of heights so done right this could be terrifying.

I think taking a Rapturesque city to the sky is one of the best possible progressions for Bioshock; it's a Bioshock game with different setting, plot and characters while keeping a theme of unrestricted technological evolution and giant mechanical looking adversaries. And the gameplay could be anything, I just hope they don't end up using plasmids again and take it in a new direction. Still, it looks amazing and you know cos its a bioshock trailer, you get everything you see.

Me thinks they should change the name. "Bioshock Infinite" seems a little tacked on. Maybe "AeroShock" or something along that vein. The trailer is obviously very polished, and I think it has great potential.

First of, ok I admit, I'm a Bioshock Fanboy. I love the steampunk underwater setting. And this... this is a dream come true. Always loved steampunk and airships as seen in Final Fantasy. Being able to play a Bioshock up in a sky city is simply amazing! If they get the gameplay just right the visuals will do the rest.

I only hope they make a story around other things besides "we find magic", "we want magic", "I want city" "war".

Really?

Do we need a knew Bioshock game after Bioshock 2...

I suppose I'll have to wait and see but I haven't much faith...

you do realize they might as well have not called this bioshock, it doesn't even take place in the same time frame, its not a sequel and it doesn't have much (if anything at all) to do with rapture..
Yes if you see my later posts where I actually get a chance to watch the trailer properly and all the way through, I ask why they bothered naming it Bioshock.

Why not come up with something new and original, like Aeroshock... or Big Daddies In Space.

It basically looks like what Bioshock would've looked like if it was Steampunk. Still, it looks good.
Bioshock is not steampunk?
What I meant by that is that Bioshock Infinite looks like Bioshock with a Steampunk makeover. I never once said Bioshock 1&2 were Steampunk.

This seems to be how they'll link the games together.

I think it looks good, it is a little of a let down, bioshock was in Rapture, that's one of it's defining features...

Renaming it would do it a world of good, but it may still turn out to be a good game...

I think his point is that Bioshock already was steampunk.

Loving the concept though, and i imagine they'll explain the "it's floating yet no-one can see it" malarky.
It actually looks like they're producing some fog around the buildings, so they probably look like clouds from below.
Ah, now that works for me. Good catch.

Well, "Bioshock" is referring to the plasmids and self mutilation of the genetic code that runs rampant throughout the series. By keeping the name they're keeping that premise and it's likely we'll see more plasmids and gene tonics and the like.

The name Bioshock has nothing to do with water, when you first hear it you think poison, not water. So, in keeping with that, they're sticking with another poisoned society, maybe from a different perspective, who knows.

Hmmm, i kinda have to urge to see what Bioshock 2 is like now..

I just think after having established Bioshock 1 and 2 in the same location making a new Bioshock game set somewhere else is a tad confusing and goes off on a bit of a tangent.

I'd like a new name to reflect the massive change in gameplay/story.

Still everything is speculation so far.

That is a fair point, but i think it's more a reassurance they're not going to change a lot of the actual gameplay, other than the claustrophobic to agoraphobic nature.

As someone with a tremendous fear of falling, i think i may enjoy this game. =P

And sure, new location keeps things fresh. Judging by the lukewarm reception Bioshock 2 got they wanted to bring back what made the first one so great, and give it one hell of a teaser trailer. Innovation and all that.

I'm looking forward to it, but I am saddened that it's not a revival of the Theif games... damn I miss thoughs games (the first 2 that is, I wasn't too fond of the 3rd)

Bioshock 3 could be fantastic, if it'd be a prequel.

Woah, now I'm even more excited for this game. I especially hope that the fact that you can actually use objects means that you can use pretty much anything as a weapon, that Elizabeth's actions with various objects aren't all scripted events.
