So ive never really been much into the scary video games due to my complete immersion and I feel completely vulnerable in them. I loved HL2 but it took me a few days to get through ravenholm because I would jump every time a head crab or head crab guy would run out at me through the dark rooms. But now that Bioshock is 5 bucks on steam and everyone raves about it I have to get it if I won't piss my pants playing it. It seems like it is set in a kinda dark and eerie world that I would like to experience but also don't know if it is my cup o tea. Anyone like to illuminate me on the subject?

it might seem spooky at first, but the more pressing concern is weather or not you like fetch quest's or not.

EDIT: another thing i forgot is that you can't die, and when you die, you just pick up right from the point you died. big daddy kill you when it was about to be killed? no problem. just respwn and kill it with a couple of shots.

Nah, at least not from the demo. And it isnt being marketed as horror, so I guess the intent isnt even there.

Fetch quests are ok as long as its an RPG setting where you get a reward for doing them. ie level or item. Thats teh big reason I hated Assassins Creed. They made you do all these quests that seemed the same but never gave you anything cept a few bucks. It all felt meaningless minus the few assassinations.

Some areas are creepier than others, but as a whole I think it's definitely creepier than Ravenholm. The beginning area and somewhere in the middle are the worst. You don't really get the feeling of being completely in control in those areas, despite the plasmids. The rest of the game's creep out factor is not much worse than HL2 though.

I got scared ONCE throughout the whole game, when I turned around and saw a disfigured splicer two feet away from me, the rest is just way too actiony to be scary.

you get to move on through the game to do another fetch quest in the level right after(well, it's more like every other level.). that's your reward

If your alone, at night, and playing in the dark, yes, but if you play with a light on or with a friend next to you, no.

From what I can tell from the Demo. Its eerie, but never spooky.

If that makes any sense

To be honest I found I wasn't immersed very much because the controls felt so clunky and unnatural (on PS3), so I'd say on the whole no, I didn't find it very spooky, though there are a few "jump" moments and dark rooms with creepy noises.

Well its hard to be really scary when during half of the game a guy with a bad Irish accent that keep ordering you around

I've only played the demo and I found it to be very eerie but not necessarily scary. Take that as you will.

Some blood stains, creepy sound, and the occational enemy that jumps around on the wall. If you played HL2 and liked it you got nothing to be scared of.

Ah, I remember that :) In that medical place with the mist? I was half expecting it, but then again I half expected it whenever I entered a new room. Still scared me enough to hit it with my pipe a few more times than necessary.

Bioshock is scary in the beginning. As soon as you realize that it's impossible to die, you stop being scared of everything. (This is if you're on easy mode, or whatever level you're usually comfortable with on shooters x3)
