It's creepy but I think it's wrong to call it horror. It's not horrifying in anyway just unnerving. If that makes sense.

I was creeped out at first, but it got pretty tolerable after a while.
Haha same here I was scared seeing my first splicer. The docter guy you have to kill scared me whn he popped out but that's about it.

BioShock can be scary, but as soon as you realize there's absolutely nothing to really be afraid of for most of the game, the Big Daddies included, it stops being a big deal.

It starts off trying to scare you, then about 1/4 in, it just says fuck it. So, not really scary.

It's kinda scary at the start but once you realise that you can beat the whole game using nothing but the wrench and the occassional plasmid (last boss aside maybe) then the game loses all its threat because you just instantly respawn.

It's creepy/disturbing. I still jump occasionally when a splicer jumps out, but it's not really horrifying.

It was mostly an action game with some creepy tones to it. Some parts scared the crap out of me, but it definitely wasn't a horror game.

I thought it was very creepy, but then I've always found something creepy about that dark-themed art deco that the game uses liberally. It's just a place that would be alright if it were well populated and friendly, a bit creepy when empty and dark... and downright terrifying place to be when falling apart and gone to hell..

I love the game. But there are definitely better games out there for more of a horror experience. Theres more of the surprise element here. But what it does do is unnerve you sometimes, and give you set-pieces that really creep you out.
But you always feel safe, ultimately since you have a ton of guns and, essentially, superpowers

Like someone said the atmosphere in the game will be making you tense. And there is a few jumps in it.

If you're just starting off, it can get really creepy. You get used to it as you progress, but there's still that hint of "scare" throughout the game. In any case, it's still one of the best FPS's I've ever played.

No, I wouldn't consider it scary. It's very atmospheric, and the atmosphere is somewhat creepy, but I never really got scared or creeped out while playing it. So you should definitely play it.

I didn't find it scary at all. But the atmosphere is incredible. I guess I was having too much fun to be frightened :)

I thinl it is more so the way things are shown you know flickering lights dark rooms blood and gore that makes it a little creepy.

it might seem spooky at first, but the more pressing concern is weather or not you like fetch quest's or not.
Fetch quests are ok as long as its an RPG setting where you get a reward for doing them. ie level or item. Thats teh big reason I hated Assassins Creed. They made you do all these quests that seemed the same but never gave you anything cept a few bucks. It all felt meaningless minus the few assassinations.
In Assassin's Creed you only had to about 2 things per Assassination and 2 is hardly a chore.

OT: Bioshock is not scary in the slightest extremely creepy and fucked up in the head mind you but scary it is not.

Only part that really make me jump was when you get to the Medical ward and the lights go out, then start flashing. I freaked out and started blasting with the shotgun. There were three bodies on the ground by the time I chilled out.
