I was similarly dissatisfied with Bioshock. I simply cant comprehend what so many people see in it. The setting is imaginative and eerie, but I cant fathom where this "good story" malarkey is coming from. 90% of the games exposition is done through monotonous little audio tapes. I did enjoy that nutcase Sander Cohen to some extent (I lol'ed at his "labour pains"). But the most dramatic moment of the game (which was well executed I admit) was completely ruined by one of the worst displays of melodrama Ive ever seen and heard in gaming just following it.
To make matters worse I found the FPS mechanics, which make up most of the game to be incredibly clunky. Overall the biggest memory I take from Bioshock is how the game contains one or two moments that I literally found infuriating. I wont be playing the second.
Oh NOES!1!!one The hidden manipulator proven to be of questionable morals turns out to be teh villainous!?! WoW is meh!
