I personally have been looking forward to this Game to Move adaptation, but like most movies based on a popular game title, they haven't really had a great record..and i say that lightly, with how good the end result is. So my question to my fellow escapists and Bioshock fans is this...Are you excited and have high hopes for this movie to be a success, or are you wishing that it had been left alone because you fear the result will ultimately insult the game.

And secondly, has anyone heard anything new about this movie...as to what is going on currently with it and when it will be released. there were some financial issues in the recent past. past that i have no idea, and most articles I've found about the movie are at least a year old.

I, for one, have high hopes for it. I think this could be the first rare occurrence of a decent adaptation from a game. I prefer to be optimistic about things, especially for stuff like this. So I at least am excited.

It could be done well. The subject material is really good, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

It seems like if they were to make a movie of any game, Bioshock would be the hardest to fuck up, so my hopes are pretty high for it.

Oh and they have a writer and a director set last time I saw.

I don't remember the writer, but the director is Juan somethingson. He directed 28 Weeks Later.

So yeah, it'll probably be good.

It's a game to movie, it's going to be terrible. I have totally given up hope that there will ever be a good adaptation of it.

I mean, the only remotely enjoyable one was DOOM, and that was because it was entertainingly stupid.

And I think it might actually be classified as being in 'development hell' by now.
Oh come on! I'm I the only one who liked Silent Hill?

It will not be good, it will be terrible, like all adaptations that are not from books. It makes me angry, but nowhere near as angry as when they decided to make a live action Cowboy Bebop movie with Keanu Reeves as Spike. Dear lord that movie will suck, it will suck harder than the blackhole that was conceived by the collective suckage of all the bad movie adaptations ever made, ever.

I didn't even know they were planning any of this...and if the last update was a year ago then its possible that it's all gone down the drain now.

OT: with the right director and Cast this coudl be an EPIC movie but I suppose it will depend somewhat on the critical, community and more importantly box office success of the Prince of Persia movie

I think the movie could be really good, but instead it's going to be a pile of shit like every game-to-movie conversion. They'll mess with the story line until it barely resembles the games, they'll change characters around until Andrew Ryan doesn't even exist, and they'll probably get Shia LaBeouf or someone equally as terrible to play the main character, who's name will not be Jack.

So no, I am not excited. I wish I could be.

Well...I dunno. From a fan standpoint (I loved the game), I think it will be good, and yet not as good as the game. For one thing, it will have a very niche audience due to the horror elements, but the people who like Horror movies might be turned off by the the whole sci-fi and steampunk elements of it. The fact that I know the (sorta) surprise ending will kind of ruin it for me. Yes, I was surprised at the ending...I didn't expect it. Or, well, it wasn't the ending, huh? It's where you meet the guy who says he's been controlling you all this time. That part...it surprised me! D:

Anyway...

So, bottom line: Will Bioshock be a good movie? ...perhaps. A big maybe, I won't say no since it will probably be fairly entertaining to watch, but won't satisfy its customers that know about the franchise, like Eragon did (for me).

But, who knows, right? They might just slip everyone a mickey and make it a gem.

The game I think would make a good movie, is Metroid, so long as they stay away from the whole Dark-Samus crap and everything related to it.

Or Twilight Princess...but, that would be more an animated film by Miyazaki. If he makes it, I'm going to buy it the day it comes out on DVD. ._. I would love to watch a Twilight Princess movie, it'd be so...so awesome, at least in my opinion.

Well, given how badly the game to game adaptation was (system shock 2 to Bioshock) I can't say I'd hold any high hopes for a film...

...And that's why Bagels aren't square.

Anyway, no possible way we're going to resolve this, so lets say that both our opinions are wrong!
*sigh* alright, fine.

Though I still don't get why you didn't like mgs4.

whats the point of making an none interactive version of an interactive experience ?
the story of bioshock works best BECAUSE of its interactive nature
its not like the "twist" could be replicated effectively if its not the "player" that learns the truth but rather just a viewer

the only way to make a GOOD bioshock movie is to make a prequel about raptures creation and the civil war between Ryan and Fontain before jack shows up
trying to make a "movie version" of the events of the actual game, is a surefire way to win the gold at the "Poo Poo Olympics"

I liked RE5.

...but perhaps my opinion is moot, since it's the only Resident Evil game I've played. (Even if there were biker zombies. Srsly!? BIKER ZOMBIES! Come on! :\ )

MGS4? Isn't that the movie where every so often the story is interrupted by 5 minute game sequences?
