The problem with the new bioshock film, and almost every game to film conversion is that they only want to make the good games into films, and almost all of the good games have storylines that are more centred around the gameplay, or the fact that you are controlling the character and way the story goes. I mean, how can they possibly recreate the 'would you kindly?' thing, if you're just watching someone else live it, not living it yourself? it was shocking, thought-provoking, fourth-wall-breaking, and many other big fancy words.

even if it is an awesome film, which it has a lot of potential for what with the incredible setting and atmosphere, they'll just be something lost in the translation for us gamers. The only games they could probs get away with making into a film is the Metal Gear Solid series, which were practically DVDs anyway.

ooo and fahrenheit. that was such a mindfuck...

they could pull most of it off but they need good WRITERS to transition the story properly.

Has anyone else noticed that its like the movie industry just pushes for shiner objects to throw around so they half-ass the writing?

well i hope the movie's good

but if it's not, so what? it wont make the game any less awesome =D
^^^This I totally agree with^^^

But I hope they hire some good writers to transition the story to movie compatibility but also expand the story along those same lines. The big problem is that the movie industry doesn't think that the video game industry has depth, and that leads them to take advantage of our slower, yet equally important compatriots, and then screw the rest of us over.

Well for starters, it's not going to be directed by Uwe Boll, so that's something going for it.
I think that Bioshock has plenty of opportunities to expand the storyline (like going into the back story in greater detail or something). I have my hopes high for this one.

It's a game to movie, it's going to be terrible. I have totally given up hope that there will ever be a good adaptation of it.

I mean, the only remotely enjoyable one was DOOM, and that was because it was entertainingly stupid.

And I think it might actually be classified as being in 'development hell' by now.
Oh come on! I'm I the only one who liked Silent Hill?
Silent Hill is still the best out of the adaptations, even with sean bean, the cops pointless sacrifice, etc.

Of course the movie has its flaws, but even with the pointless sacrifice, the misuse of pyramid head and my only real complaint of "Why are there so many fucking people here?" I still loved it and I was freaked out a few times.

And I like Sean Bean...

Its not that i don't like Sean bean, he is a great actor, he should have been the protagonist, and that way the way the sacrifice of alessa wouldn't have to have been changed.

It's probably gonna suck. Most games to movies do and with BioShock 1 and 2 you need to explore the enviroments and listen to audio tapes to get the full picture on certain things that are going on.

True. I wish though they had stayed with the plot of the game more. Like if it had been closer to Silent Hill 2's psychological aspect of "he's just making it all up" sort of thing rather than a town that was just cursed.

I never played the first one, so that might have been just the plot of the game.

I swear this:

If Uwe Boll gets within 100 miles of this film or anyone taking part in it in any way whatsoever, I will do bad things. Bad things indeed.

Now now poopy pants! In the past, movies based on comics kind of sucked balls. After a bit of spit and shine, we have gems like Spiderman, IronMan, Hulk and Dark Knight. All of those movies were well done!
