Depends, Bioshock has a great immersion quality to it, as does Mass Effect however. I guess it depends what you are into, war torn dystopian 30's inspired cities under the sea. Or space ships and aliens in a distant future.

I'd say Mass Effect. I bought Bioshock when it was 5 EUR and I consider that money wasted.

Mass Effect, as buggy as it sometimes is, is also the awesomest non-DnD cRPG I've ever played.

Well it depends. Mass Effect is a great RPG, Bioshock is a great FPS. Personally I dig the steampunk vibe in Bioshock, but that's just me. They're both great games.

You could buy both?

I own both games and I tend to enjoy BioShock a bit more. They're both great games, don't get me wrong, but I personally liked BioShock better.

Of course, these are very different games and it all depends on your personal taste. If you don't like RPGs then don't buy an RPG. I would recommend getting both, though.

Both are excellent, but very different. If you're more into FPS, BioShock, but if you prefer RPG, Mass Effect. Also, weigh up the settings. Underwater steampunk 50's dystopia, BioShock. Future galaxy with aliens, Mass Effect.

Bioshock, it has a brilliant story, i can guarantee that anyone who has played Bioshock will agree when i say "would you kindly"

The only downside to Bioshock is that the end boss is a let down, and you start off weak and become chuck norris combined with god towards the end.

Well, I figured I'd watch a couple reviews to see if the balance would shift at all but G4TV gave both games a 5\5, and Yahtzee didn't completely destroy these games in his reviews. I'm still waffling. Does anyone have anything bad to say about either game?

They're both mediocre but get bioshock, Mass effect's ally system involves them running straight into enemy fire, bent on suicide and not listening to you.

THEY ARE NOT MEDIOCRE. Check what mediocre means.

As much as I didn't like Bioshock (boring), it's one of the best games on all consoles.

Mass Effect is very close.

Also, I have finished ME and my allies never gave ma hard time. If anything, I died due to poor armor. Maybe you are just a bad player... Pretty easy to imagine, as you consider 2 great and critically acclaimed games "mediocre".

Ohhh, I insulted someone's games, that must be why you're getting worked up into some fanboy rage and insulting me because no website game critic ever inflates a score because of pretty pictures. EVER. I played the pc version btw, and I found bioshock as boring as you, now go settle down before you start crying.

ok i read your sentence like 4 damn times and it didn't make sense
mass effect is (as you have said) "a great RPG" but with very long dialog scenes and carrying a huge problem: an RPG and a shooter at the same time. and RPG fans and shooter fans don't usually mix well like say, mixing pickle juice with jam

Yes, insulting people and calling them fanboys gives you a lot of creditability. Not.

I just hate ignorance. And you, my fat headed friend, are an ignorant. Calling 2 games scoring a 90+ average on 44 and 74 reviews is like calling someone with straight A's a weak student.

Or saying that the gold medalists are slow and you could beat them.

Why am I even talking to you? You called a game scoring few Game of the Year 2007 awards MEDIOCRE. I feel dumber after saying that...

I'm an FPS fan. I'm an RPG fan. I mix well with myself.
